Hints for B pillar trim removal?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Need to remove headliner, now trying to remove B pillar trim piece. Bentley shows two clips and says to "unclip", but as I pull it, it's cracking where the plastic wraps around.

    Any advice?

Yeah, they're all going to crack like that... unfortunately. I like to get my finger(s) behind the top of it by starting off at the top-rear-side and sliding my fingers toward the middle, then get my fingertips near the clip locations and pull straight out. Before putting it back together I squeeze the metal clips together a bit with pliers to reduce the effort it takes to remove the B-pillar trim the next time. In fact I do this with all of those metal clips.

They shouldn't crack. Just remove the rubber seal pressed against the B pillar and lightly, using a plastic trim tool, loosen the b pillar, working up to the top corners of the b pillar. Lightly, using an angled trim tool on the top corners of the b pillar, push outward to dislodge the b pillar.

If that doesn't work, you can, with some dedicated effort, lift the headliner out of the b pillars without having to remove the b pillars. I have never gotten this method to work personally, but apparently it can be done

Thanks to all for the answers. Following Hiduke's link, I was able to get them released with minimal damage (there were already some cracks that may have gotten marginally worse). Actually I found it easier to pop both the clips from the same side - once one side was loose, I could gently pull it back and see where the second clip was and get the screwdriver in the proper place.
