Unfortunately, just replacing them may not solve the problem. The real issue is the grease used to lubricate the gears inside the servo. When this migrated onto the circuit board, it will cause a fault and trigger various issues; roof won't open or close completely, windows won't function normally, etc.
This is a relatively simply DYI and should be done as a preventative measure even if your top is working properly. When this fault does appear, it will require the use of a VCDS to both clear the fault AND perform the Adaptation necessary for the CANBUS to "learn" the new values. If you clean them before a fault occurs, then you can simply reinstall them without the need for a VCDS.
NOTE - While you can use an OBDeleven to read the fault codes, it does not have the ability to perform the Adaptation. At present, only the Ross Tech VCDS can run the Adaptation.
If the convertible top is inoperative, generally at the point where the convertible top frame cover flaps on the right and left have fully opened, any or all of the following DTCs may be stored:
• DTC 02000 (Switch Position Incorrect Signal)
• DTC 03246 (Left Top Flap Sensor G596-Incorrect Signal)
• DTC 03247 (Right Top Flap Sensor G597-Incorrect Signal)
