need help opening exaust flaps and OBD 11

new here so i apologize for any errors. own a 2017 S3 technik and new to OBD 11. been watching youtube vids on how to open the exhaust but mine dont seem to work the same way. while running and in park, i jammed a stick up into the exhaust and notice the noise difference when i hit the flaps and feel the exhaust. they dont seem to open while the car is running in dynamic mode. i could be wrong as i cant actually see if its open or not. im tring to open then then longcode it to keep them open at all times. what am i doing wrong? any ideas?

on cold start they open up.. have a look right after start. If not, maybe an issue? For a bit, I did cold start, then unplugged them so they were open all the time. With a downpipe and resonator delete it sounded obnoxious, so I hooked them back up. Its not like these cars will every sound particularly good no matter what you do.

Did you check obd11 long coding exhaust valve still shows disable or enable? If disable means open.

... chances are you know this, but just wanted to make sure you knew to have the valves open (putting the car in Dynamic Mode) BEFORE making the adjustment with OBDeleven otherwise it won't work

This. Start the car and put it in Dynamic and then turn it off. The valves we now be open. You can code it from there and it will accept the changes.

i hit the start button > turn on engine > dynamic mode( this is where im having issues explained below.)> hit start button which stops the engine and shuts the car down > hit the start button again to turn the car on but no engine running to get access to coding. i looked into the long code and under exhaust valves it says "active"

while running i shove a stick into the exhaust and i dont think they are open as i seem to tap the valve in there and hear the difference when i knock it but could be wrong or its actually hitting the open valve and slightly closing it. i tried stuffing rags into the open ends to try build pressure against the valved ones but dont notice any difference on the valve side

Is your still enable? Start the car put in dynamic and trans in drive D. Put it in drive now shut of car (foot on brake) turn ignition without starting car. Now put it back in Park now go to obd11 and check disable exhaust valve and save.

Getting in on this topic because I tried the exhaust flaps mod via OBDeleven last year and gave up because it wouldn't work. I have a 2016 S3. I drive in dynamic mode always. When I cold-start my car and rev the engine after a couple of minutes of idling or if I start to drive my exhaust flaps don't seem to be open. I have the pops & bangs tune and to get that to work I have to cycle through the drive select options while driving even though I'm already in dynamic mode. Once I cycle through comfort, individual, auto, and back to dynamic mode that opens my exhaust flaps and only then can I hear the pops & bangs.

This is frustrating but on one hand it does mean pops and bangs isn't constantly on so I'm not always obnoxious and can have it off if I want.

I changed mine with VCDS using the steps in my earlier post.

I reversed it about a week later though as also having the resonator delete makes the drone unbearable if you’re anything less than full throttle.
