It's easier and cheaper to buy good flush fit dual usb socket adapters. Totally reversible and comes with better electrical protections than whatever we could probably wire up.

The trick is, how do you find good ones? Most I've seen are very cheaply made, and I would never trust them to power something that would be expensive to replace. Yeah they claim to have all sorts of protections, but Chinese manufacturers lie about features all the time.
Be alert! America needs more lerts.

    This looks promising . . .

Fast charge capability with smart charge. Total length is about an inch so it wont stick too far out of the socket.

BMW make a pretty neat one (I got one with my M5) as long as you don’t mind the branding:

I purchased these a year or two ago. In the back of the front console, they fit flush and the door closes without touching the adapter. Works great in all outlets. I highly recommend.

These work awesome, Have them in all my vehicles, never had a single issue and been using them for several years now.

Aukey and anker make very solid products. I would recommend either brand for USB products.

^Love Aukey and Anker, have their fast charge car USB products and they are very good. I would never buy any charger that doesn't provide fast charging capabilities.
