    Saxon 2018 TTRS build thread

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have gotten quite a few questions from customers about my car, so I figured I'd create a build thread here that I can update easily.

    2018 TTRS

    Fall 2019
I bought the car in Texas with a full stage 2 package from a competitor and drove the car 20+ hours home

I then installed Carbon Ceramics on the car, since I wont be tracking the car the Ceramics are very light which work great for drag racing

    I then installed a set of 17" slicks and ran a 9.989 @ 135.84
    NO WEIGHT REDUCTION besides wheels/tires
    mods:
    Unitronic stage 2 ecu (10psi , 3800 rpm launch)
    Unitronic stage 2 tcu
    Unitronic injectors
    4" intake
    4"inlet
    catless downpipe
    upgraded fmic
    (all parts from previous owner)

Since I met my goal with the car it was time to transfer over my built motor setup from my RS3

    Current setup:
    (Eurocode setup)
    Carrillo Rods
    Mahle Pistons (standard version)
    Ferrea Springs/retainers/valves
    Iroz Engine oil Catch can
    Unitronic Port injectors
    Unitronic 4 bar Map sensors

    Wavetrac front lsd
    Stock clutches
    Iroz DSG catch can

Iroz Motorsports 850s Full Frame kit (Xona 8264s)
    Iroz 4.5" inlet
    Unitronic 4" intake
STM 1000hp core FMIC (needs serious mods to fit a ttrs)
    Iroz LPFP

KW HAS with 80-180 rear springs

    034 street mounts
    Ece blue dog bone mount
    034 rear inserts

    18x9 Volk te37 with 285/35/18 Nitto 555R tires

    Stock exhaust

Current results from testing (local track isnt open yet, not all are from same pass)
Rear seats taken out and lightweight battery installed , still has stock exhaust

    0-60 2.3 seconds
    60-130 4.37
    1/4 mile - 9.34 @154mph

Awesome car and excellent results Brian. Love the wheel/tire setup too. 80lb Rear HAS or 800lb?

Thanks for the info. I’m running 900# in the rear for cornering and the setup definitely hasn’t helped it hook off the line when launching. Are you using stock dogbone, inserts, engine, and trans mounts?

Forgot about those as well, I've spent way too much money ha ha

Congrats in such an amazing setup!

Regarding to the KW HAS springs, do you have a link to them?

For a TTE 700 or TTE 777 would you recommend an engine built? Thanks!

I dont have a link to them, however if you search that part number you will find them.

I recommend building a motor for any hybrid build as it gives you peace of mind as well as will allow you to turn up the turbo to maximize the torque

It is truly amazing what you've done with that car. I REALLY look forward to seeing you put that power to use on a track once they open! Just amazing bud.

^^ In my opinion one of the most shocking aspects of your car build is that you are running a stock drivetrain(untouched transmission, driveshaft, axles), it is just crazy how strong the DQ500 seems to be, I only seen a picture of the broken flywheel that Iroz posted but I think he was pushing more power.

As far is your overall build, I think your car will be forever a YouTube sensation specially with that clean low 2's 0-60 mph launches.

    Hi Brian,

Are the Ceramic brakes’ Calipers the same as the steel’s ones?

Are you glad with your ECE pendulum mount? Why did you opt for this one vs. the other options in the Market?

    Amazing build, congratulations!

    What a nice car!

How are the Mahle pistons vs oem? Do you have more oil consumption?

They are the same physical dimensions but the pistons/boots are a different material.

ECE mount is great, I chose this as i bent every other mount that was available at the time.

They work well, with my engine catch can I have yet to drain any oil from the engine. I still go through about 1 qt every 5000 miles or so.

So then it would be possible to change pads pistons and boots if one were to pick up the ceramic rotors?

    Hi Riden,

I have ceramics and I love them. A friend on mine and I where discussing about this since I read somewhere that they where the same (I believed that the only thing that changed where the pads) and the thing I don’t recall is the source I read this from. On the other hand my friend told me “Ceramic brakes might have bigger calipers”. So I thought that the best way to find out was to ask.

I would loved that the rear brakes where ceramic as well. I know that these car’s heavy on the front end, so the most important brakes in this case are the ones in the front axle. Even though I would like to have them.

I had ceramics on my last TTRS and I loved them. That is a package I wish my new TTRS had. I want to retrofit carbon ceramics onto this one.

You can also save a lot of weight at the Front by using an other caliper. (I use a AP 5000R which is almost 3kg lighter each) On the other hand it will upgrade the brake performance and friendliness to the disc at the same time by using the right pad vom Pagid. If you are interested in that I have a nice contact
For the front and rear we are developing exactly what you/me and others want at the moment. It will be ready hopefully this year - a upgrade front and rear ceramic disc kit for maximising brake performance and saving rotating/overall weight. And all that for a fair price.
I will show it on my Instagram when it is ready ore here in a separate threat if you want.

That’ll be amazing! Subscribed for it!

It’s funny I saw the Akrapovic install video You posted a few weeks before seeing you posting around here. The video is amazing even I don’t understand a thing (a couple of random words here and there).

Any issues with 285s on the 9 inch rims? I'm currently on 265/35/18 RE71Rs and would love to move up to 285s if there are no issues. I know you have aftermarket suspension. I'm currently on 034 Springs and fixed camber top mounts, which give me -2.7 degrees up front. You think I could get away with 285s?

285s are a tight fit on 9in wide stuff, but they work.

Let me rephrase my question. Is it ok to run 285s on a 9 inch rims going all out on the track?

Depends on the tire really, and is a 285 vs a 275 going to make or break your day? Because most 275s are cheaper and fit better.

Keep it close to stock tire diameter and you should be good. Tire compound is an important thing to keep in mind also.
