Tire shine that does not stain tires

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Can anyone recommend a tire shine product that does not turn tires brown when it wears off? I've been using some flavor of Meguiar's tire shine and my relatively fresh set of PS4S tires have this dirt brown staining/residue on them. I've tried scrubbing it and have not been able to get it off yet, so I'm worried it might be ingrained in the rubber at this point. But the least I can do is discontinue using a product that has this type of result. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Turtle Wax Wet'n Black Tire Shine has been in my arsenal for years, and does a phenomenal job - without any of the hardships you mentioned.

As with most products of this type, one must be mindful when applying the product - as it can leave stains on driveways if you don't clean up the area fast enough.

Because of the above, I use a public street or parking lot as soon as I get the opportunity.

Good question. I noticed the same thing with all the major brands that are affordable or on Amazon. I'll have to try those above too.

Use Bleche-Wite to wash the side walls. I don't think your dressing is "causing" the brown.

I use Car Guys Tire Shine. It goes on with an applicator and doesn't sling. It lasts pretty well and doesn't stain. It also lasts FOREVER. I'm coming up on 2 years and I am not even halfway through the bottle.

Chemical Guys Silk Shine Dressing. I think this looks like new tire and not shinny tire. You can also use in on other plastic parts.

Life has taught me never try to make something idiot proof, they'll simply come up with a better idiot.
I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.
I have neither the time, nor the crayons to explain this to you properly.

Are you sure you're not seeing the tire blooming? As you mentioned, they are a relatively new set and it happened to mine as well. They add an antiozonant to the tire to protect it from the environment.

But to answer your question, I use nexzett vinyl rubber and it works well for me.

Tire shine that does not stain tires

The most important thing with applying a tire dressing is prepping the tire for the first time. If you have never done this before then there are a few options. You can either use odorless mineral spirits or stoners tarminator. This will get the tire squeaky clean(especially if they’re new tires). Otherwise all that browning on the tire isn't going to look so great when you apply a dressing. Once you apply a dressing a regular wheel and tire cleaner like P&S Brakebuster or Adams wheel & tire, optimum power clean diluted will be good enough for maintenance. The products that leave a satin sheen without being overly greasy is WoWo's tire restorer, CarPro Perl, nanolex tire & rubber restorer, Chemical guys VRP(diluted), Adams VRT(diluted)

Just my experience in the last 8 years of detailing cars as my side gig/hobby. I’ve posted a photo of my S4. After dressing has been applied and set to dry after 20 min. Just a deep black tire. No filter in this photo.

I will tell you what will clean the brown off is Eagle One wheel cleaner. I have used MAY cleaners over MANY years and IMHO nothing works better for cleaning and for this thread it is the only one that you get instant brown foam on the tires. It takes it off.
