Custom tuning for K04s and up is the way to go. Blake @ ET Spec or Brad Watkins are the two current guys doing most of the remote tuning. That or find someone to dyno tune the car if you trust them.

Been a forever. You don't say what Stage. My Stage 2 is EPL. My Stage 3+ was remotely tuned by VAST.

Looks like VAST is still around, been a long time though. I have EPL tunes in all my new Audi's, so I know they are all still killing it.

It would have to be stage 3. I have stage 3+ with giac but im tired of trying to talk to someone that acts like my car problems aren't theirs. Reasoning for my thread. I have 85mm maf, 42lb injectors, downpipes ko4s etc

Your car sounds similar to mine. Similar mods, I just have 997 hybrids instead.

My VAST tune has been good. Had it for over 10 years now, no issues. If I did it now I would look to EPL. They do remote tuning now, didn't back then. I have a longer history now with EPL, that is the only reason.

I have 710p. History with my car is it was stock when I got it in late 2016. Ran great. Over the next 2 years I Saved and saved until I could get some of the stuff for stage 3 along with the giac tune. In 2018 sometime (I work a lot of hours so time for the car is scarce) I was finally able to drive the car under its own stage 3 power. Didn't go well. Ran like crap. Wouldn't go above 3500 rpm without cutting completely out. Called giac multiple times over this because the car ran great before tuning. It was coding a couple things but don't really remember what it was. Ended up being the egt sensors. Replaced with sid MotorSports. Ran better but would have multiple misfires and then another 02 sensor no activity. Called them multiple times over this because it came back up no activity even after replacing the o2 in question. By this time when they would answer and notice it was me I could tell they didn't want to talk to me. Car sits over the next year mainly do to working so much and it having a horribly bad leaking rear main. Get back to it late last year up until now. The car started dying and not restarting. Would just crank and crank. Would only happen once in a month maybe 2. Smelt like it was flooding itself out when you try to start. Leave it for a couple days and it would start. Never could figure it out. Had great spark. Obviously fuel. Called them multiple times over this and Everytime I would get the same person that would act like my problems aren't theirs and just wanted me off the phone. For what ever reason the car hasn't done that since but is now sputtering/misfire/ hesitation under heavy boost. Might be the n75. Plugged the one side and I think it ran ok or at least better. Not sure becuase i didn't push it to hard. I have yet to drive it at its full potential and im done even trying to get help from people that don't want to give it. Sorry for the long story. Just wanted to give the reasoning for the thread

It sounds like you have hardware issues, which really isn’t their responsibility to diagnose for you.

Truth. You're paying them for tuning, not diagnosing your car. Even if they could "tune around" your issues and make it good enough, you'd probably just end up with more headaches down the road

Kinda hate to say it, but I agree. Sounds like you're using GIAC as a crutch to fill in where your knowledge/skills have limitations. We have to manage our expectations of tuners: if all your hardware matches what the tune was written for, it generally should run at least decently well. And if it doesn't, there's a good chance of a hardware problem and that's not their responsibility.

I'm not denying that they were a crutch at first. In their defense I called alot and anyone would get tired of that. I know nothing about these cars then but later in the build it started doing things that weren't explainable so I just hoped they would have answers. I have no one close to here that can or does tune on these that I know of. I can do a lot with the mechanics of it but as for the tune part I know nothing.

Blake tuned my car from the other side of the country. But no tuner is going to be able to help you if your car is a hardware mess. You need to get all of that sorted first.

If the tuner can't get signal from a sensor how are they supposed to tune?

I would go back to a base tune and start troubleshooting.
The behaviors that you are describing could be literally 100 different things.
Any undetectable preexisting problems will definitely become magnified when you push the car.
There are plenty of guys in here that will help.

Get 100% confident in all your sensors, ignition, fuel.
Eliminate any hardware issues on a base file then start tuning.

Good advice above. Get your set-up sorted, then go after the tune. Plenty of people on here to help with your issues. Work through them one at a time.

    A few additional comments...
-Egt's are a pain. Should be good with Sid.
-What 42lbs do you have? The Bosch "green tops" like to misfire at idle. I run the same thing. Just be aware.
-Not wanting to start when cold can often be a bad coolant temp sensor. Something to think about.
-Hesitation under boost can be a lot of things. When I last had it, it was a weak ICM (igniton). I switched to 2.0L coils to get away from those.
