Buying help for 2018 Audi S5 Prestige. How to tell if has Full Matrix LED headlights?

Like title says. In North America/USA, how do you tell if the 2018 S5 SB Prestige has the Matrix LED headlights? Is it standard for Prestige trim?

On the 2019 it is standard for prestige. As far as how to tell, I'm not sure.

Matrix LED lights are not available in the US for 2018 or 2019 on A/S/RS5 - they are just regular LED lights. You have to retrofit some (very expensive) E-codes to get matrix functionality in the B9 in the US.

This. I know as I just did this switch. Unless you are buying from a private seller who expressly tells you he/she converted to matrix headlights, then you have LED lights. Not only are they expensive, converting to matrix requires significant coding changes to get them to work properly and avoid getting fog and high beam errors.

Unless something had changed, Matrix LED technology is illegal in the U.S. (DOT mandates that low and high beams must be separate lights/bulbs). So, 2018's didn't have them yet, it's a 2019+ release, however the matrix lights that come on those models don't actually come with matrix functionality. That's why Audi website says matrix-design headlights, not matrix technology headlights.

For the B9 line in the US, I don't think even the 2019 models have matrix functionality (even if disabled by software). I believe only the B9.5 face lift have the matrix design and that's the 2020 model.
