18-inch wheel and spacer for 2019 RS 3?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Anybody running an 18-inch wheel with a minimum width spacer that allows 18-inch wheel clearance with the front caliper, as well as not allowing the tire edge to hit the fender edge during full lock turns? Is there such a configuration?

I've had it with the 19-inch tires and want the 18-inch tires with their additional sidewall to help eliminate some of the bad roads situation and reduce the surface noise level.

I think it’s fine. I posed the same question in my thread a few down.

I have BC Forged 18x9 ET44 wheels and run a 255/35 18 tire all around and don't rub at full lock. Not sure of your budget, but if you go custom you don't have to worry about spacers for brake clearance. Pretty sure Neuspeed has some wheels that will accomplish your goals as well.

    itsjustjed,
Thanks for the reply and pic, but I think that your front 2018 RS 3 has a smaller caliper than my 2019 RS 3 has.
I'll look into this further. Certainly is a nice looking wheel, looks some what like the 18-inch Enkie's we're running on our 2015 Golf R, which we used to replace its factory 19-inch wheels too, which solved its excessive road noise and harsh surface hits they were taking and telling us about. Much quieter now and certainly less harsh, response wise to bad surfaces.

You're welcome, Rod. Actually, the CCB caliper is the same as the non-CCB brake caliper. All years of RS3 use the same brake caliper which was also used on the B7 RS4, Gen 1 R8 4.2 and a few other cars from Audi/Lamborghini. Just the pads used are a different material and obviously the discs are carbon ceramic vs. steel. The CC disks are 2mm thicker than the standard steel discs at 370/34mm. I have a ton of clearance between wheel barrel and caliper on my set up.

I am running Neuspeed RS-10 on 18" by 8'5". Just like you, I prefer taller tires and smaller wheels. I am currently running a 255/35 tire but before that I was running some 235/40/18. I run standard size wheels (all equal/not staggered).
Be very careful with Konig wheels, my 18" konig Hyperflow cleared the calibers outwards but it didn't clear the calipers on the inner barrel of the wheels

    S3DUDE,
Thank you for your input, very good info!
Where in AZ are you? I lived and went to school in Tucson 1951-1958 and had 4 years of great technical classes at Tucson High involving 4 years of auto, machine shop, welding, drafting and Radio/TV. All the stuff I've since spent most of my life involved with. Great school indeed. Only 44k people in Tucson when we moved there, now its huge!

My set up is very similar to S3Dude.

I'm running a square set up with Neuspeed RSe10 Light Weight Wheels 18 X 9.0, 5x112. Weight: 19.75lbs. Offset: +45mm, Satin Black Center Bore: 66.56mm / 57.1mm (with hub ring)

The tires are - 255/35/18 Michelin MP4S - OEM TPMS.

I have had no issues with rub. The only issue I had was minor. We had to relocate the placement of weights and pull them out a bit for road force balancing as they were very, very close to the front brake caliper..

RSe11R 18x9.5 +45, but I’m running 8mm up front and 3mm in the rear for tire clearance (275/35 PS4S). However the wheel has no clearance issues without spacers.

Looks great! I’ve been thinking of doing something like this. Any idea if it would rub stock height without the spacers? Do you have any pictures that show the width of the tire on the car?

Not sure about stock height. I don’t have any pics show the width. I’ll try to snap a few.

I ran the 18" Neuspeed RSe52 and RSe11R with 265/35ZR18 tires on stock suspension and on lowering springs on my 2019 RS3. No spacers required.

Available down in Richmond, VA, if you're interested.

when you say for tire clearance in the rear. are you talking about clearance to the shock body? Are you not rubbing on the rear fender with 3mm spacers? And what springs are you on?
    thanks

Correct, the 3mm spacer keeps it off the shock dust boot. I’m running the Neuspeed lowering springs. I rubbed the fender with 5mm spacer with the 275 PS4S on hard dips. Now with the 3mm no rubbing at all.

I am in Tucson Rod. Yes, the city is much bigger, it was much nicer when you were here (I watched documentaries). I have been here for 18 years (15 years related to my job).

Sweet set-up isn't? I believe that I chose the 8.5" instead of the 9" because as I mentioned in older post I prioritize weight reduction, 8.5" was plenty for me and the 255's fit perfectly. The previous 235's filled in the whole width of the wheel but thankfully the 255's also fit perfectly. I am running RE71 and they are very sticky, most likely this is the set-up that I will be running from now on. My wife drove the car and she is very impressed on how grippy the tires are.

Do you like the RE71 tires over the PS4S as far as grip?

71R's are much grippier than PS4S. They are extremely loud though. And they pick up every pebble on the road.
