    A6/S6 Windshield sunshade?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Can anyone recommend a high quality fold up sunshade? I live in South Florida and a sunshade is pretty much mandatory year round.

I bought a Covercraft a year ago and it's ripping at the folds already and besides it's heavy and is loosening up my sun visors. For $60 it isn't all that.

On my last Audi I had an OEM Audi sunshade and it was a POS. It outgassed for months and left a film on the windshield that I had to clean every week. I tossed it.

Anything else out there that fits well and is high quality? I prefer not to go on Ebay and roll the dice hoping it's decent.

Just be careful WHO you have tint your car. There is another thread on here where the install appears to have dripped (perhaps excessive) water down into the HUD display unit causing it to have failed. Pricey repair.

Thanks for the heads up. I just bought this. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If it doesn't work out I'll go the tint route and make sure the HUD is well protected.

The other guy was saying that when he had his windshield tinted they dripped water into the hud and messed it up. I think I'm going to go to the tint place today and see how dark they can go before seeing at night becomes an issue.

Yeah, I read the thread, sounds like poor installer got water into the dash. i have 70 on my VW and 50 on my S6.

I used the OEM Audi sunshade on my S3 and I hated it. I had the outgas issues as well. I went with WeatherTech this time around and I’ve had no issues. Works great.

Is the Weathertech heavy and thick like the Covercraft?

Was your Covercraft the thick accordion-type like the OEM? The WeatherTech is the lighter roll type, which I honestly prefer. The accordion ones look “cooler,” but are more cumbersome to use. The WeatherTech is lighter (but still solidly thick) and just easier to use all around.

Mine was the accordion type. Much too heavy and bulky. The weathertech sounds much better. Thanks, now I have another good option.

Does it block heat buildup? Guessing no, but hoping.

So I've been researching tint on the windshield and I'm not ready to take that plunge. Ceramic tint rejects heat well so your a/c gets a break when your driving around but if the car is just parked in the sun the interior is still going to get super heated. What ceramic tint does best is block UV rays but I'm not sure whether it's heat or UV that actually degrades the interior while the car sits baking in the Florida sun all day while parked. I know the steering wheel won't get as hot with a sunshade.

Anyway this is what I went with. A cheapo sunshade from Amazon to hold me over till I can get a roll up sunshade from Covercraft which is backordered till end of June because the factory is closed due to the virus. I went with a Covercraft roll up sunshade over a Weathertech roll up sunshade because Covercraft differentiates between HUD and non HUD. Weathertech is one size fits all.

    Cheapo Amazon temporary shade: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Covercraft shade for S6 w/HUD Part #UR11437 https://www.covercraft.com/us/en/pro...d-sunscreen.UR
Cheapest price was from Summit Racing at $57 all in. Most other places were $70+

Not to highjack. However has anyone coded the Auxiliary Ventilation feature?

Super useful when running in and out of places in the heat as well scheduling it like for when you leave work etc.

I had it on my B8 but for the life of me I can’t get it unlocked for my C7.5.

I’d love to know if anyone got it working.

People do it all over the USA but in most states a full front windshield tint is illegal.

It is illegal in Florida. https://www.tinting-laws.com/florida/

If you are just going into a store for a bit just push and hold the fan button. That will run the fan for half an hour (I think). Works better in the winter than the summer imo.

That only works if you have the 4-zone climate controls, I have the 3zone. The fan is a dial not a button.

Yep and I’ve read them all Re: Aux Vent. The C7.5 doesn’t have the same green screen and I haven’t seen any posts that anyone has been able to work around it. So far I’ve enabled the menu but that’s it.
