Has anybody used the mounts by the brand "ANCHOR" ? Part # 8997 it says fits left and right sides. I'd like to buy some mounts but the 034 brand ones are pricey. Anything you guys recommend that's good and cost effective?

Left and right mounts on Tip and 6sp trans are the same, just no heat shield on the driver's side for 1.8T. The 5sp 1.8T manual uses a different design on the driver's side. You can often pick up some slightly used 034 mounts cheaper.

Ohhhhh 98 A4 Quattro manual AEB. The reason I was inquiring about the ANCHOR brand ones is because I can get them cheap thru advance auto parts cuz they will match my Amazon price . And yes I have noticed that some higher priced mounts include that metal heat shield. The anchor brand ones show to be "hydraulic" (prone to failure?). I want this task to be cost effective but not cheap quality. I dont really want to do this job again in 1 year. I gotta budget my hobbies cuz I'm the only bread winner in my house. Also.. what is the purpose of that snub mount up front? Looks like front end needs to be separated to replace that thing.

Would go through Rock Auto way before advanced auto. Haven't heard of ANCHOR, would be hesitant.

And they sell plenty better, so what's your point? There's a range of items, you get to see options, and their prices are cheaper for the same product.

Hmm seems that Rock auto sells the same brand that advance auto parts carries, I have never ordered anything from Rock auto, I'm guessing the means that they are customer favorite's. Fuuuuuu I've heard of anchor cuz I used to work at auto parts store. But I have never heard of DEA/MARMON. They are more expensive which I guess would be an illusion of being better quality. Ugh. Soo that donut mount up front...what is it's purpose and should I change it since sometime in the near future I will be doing the motor mounts.Screenshot_20200516-143211_Chrome.jpeg

The "donut mount" (aka snub mount) is a torque mount preventing the motor from twisting under acceleration. You'll want that. I eliminated mine by going with the 034 motor mounts, tranny mounts, and a drivetrain stabilizer. If you go with low budget mounts then replace your snub mount with something polyurethane and aftermarket. Also, if you're going to cheap out on mounts get the V6 motor mounts. Many 1.8T owners went with S4 mounts as an upgrade.

All v6's use 8D0 199 379 K mounts, meanwhile the 4cyls uses 8D0 199 382 L on right side and 8D0 199 379 J on left. The hydraulic assembly could be different in the V6 mounts because the engine is heavier.

I've been using aftermarket Corteco V6/S4 mounts on my 1.8T for over 3 years without any issues. They were on sale from FCP and priced cheaper than 1.8T mounts. I believe they are slightly stiffer than OEM 1.8T mounts but not as rigid as 034 mounts or RS4 mounts. I have not had any issues with unwanted virbations from these mounts.
