Just screw some self tappers through it you'll be fine... duct tape or superglue could work too...

I’m not sure that you really need the roller 3356, but the hooks need to be in shape to latch. Whats the other side look like?

Picture is cut off, where do you get a service manual. Maybe the roller is required, I’m putting all 215lbs behind it and that thing will not clip back into place.

The whole image is there, post an image of the clips on the back.

The second image is from the removal instructions and how you unclip the trim from the door. It was meant to give you an idea of what needs to be clipped back in, but would be confusing if you’re reading the removal instructions.

I think I might have to yank out the whole window just to put the trim on.

No, I doubt you want/have to do that, especially in the rear. The blue in the second image is the window in the window channel with a tool used to unhook the trim from the door.

How did you remove the trim? What does the back look like?

This piece, it just pops right out. In that manual it says start at B pillar and push it back on. There is no way, you are pushing on metal, i don't understand. I'm using rubber mallet on flat spot and pushing with all my body weight. There's gotta be more to it than what audi says. I'm thinking it might be easier to buy that tool and pop that thing out like in the picture you posted, and re-attach chrome piece while it's out.

I can’t see the first image in your last post, but do you have the whole of the clip in the middle of the trim that clips into the inside of the door or not? There shouldn’t be a need to be hitting anything with a mallet.

EDIT: Did you separate the chrome or black trim piece from the window channel seal and the rubber underneath the trim?

Such as you just have chrome piece you’re trying to press a rubber seal into.

Those pieces are an SOB to get back on, and rarely not deformed.

Yes i detached just the chrome trim piece, and i just don't see how you can do it. I think i need to take the window channel seal out to reattach.

The outer seal and the trim are a single piece. Had it been unlatched, you could press the trim back in as described.

    ***k me lol.

Thanks for the help, just need the tools and that piece. I think i'm gonna leave it off while it's in body shop so my body dude doesn't have to mess with it.

It’s probably warped and not going to go back into shape. Force or a rubber mallet is not your friend. The chrome covering and rest of the molding is not suppose to come apart. It comes off as an assembly. The special tool is to remove it and then it just pressure fits back in. No need to remove the glass.

No problem, sorry I didn’t get what you were saying at first; I’ve never seen anyone separate this piece there but most do destroy them. You asked for my manual, I shared it a while back on a throwaway gmail account drive just for this. A fair warning; it’s over 12,000 pages and is A4 specific but would have overlap with the S4 in many areas.

Awesome, dude. Glad to hear it. I have my annual appointment with my detailer today, in fact. Looking forward to getting the bae summer ready - pandemic or otherwise.

If it's an insurance claim have your body shop add the molding into the claim. Things that break when removed for the painting are covered.

If anyone googles this in the future, don’t spend 50 dollars on T40219, they are plastic and don’t really work at all. I used a hook from an old pc repair kit and popped the seal, then it takes a decent amount of force to pull it off. But I got it off, not bent at all, it can be done. It is not easy though, I wouldn’t recommend removing.

I took all of mine off for vinyl wrap, used a trim tool under to lift it up a bit and just pulled. Guess I'll be having fun putting it back on...

Well the moldings are back in. The rears are a piece of cake.

The front are a pain in the ass, if the rubber popped off the chrome piece at any point, have some patience in putting it back on because it was a bitch. It's also extremely tight around the mirror, actually damaged some of my vinyl work putting it back on

I actually kinda learned it was my slight fuck up in not aligning it correctly and paying attention to how it is going on. So long your rubber is attached to the metal or whatever trim piece, you don't need to take mirror of at all.
Granted, if you do that, you can just snap it in from top.
