    A6 C7 to C7.5 facelifting rear end

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has done this modification or can point me in the direction of a topic if this has been covered. Finding multiple differences of opinions online I have a c7 with minor damage to the rear bumper but will require a slight repair and repainting. I'm interested to see if a facelifted rear bumper will fit as I like some of the aftermarket diffusers available for the 7.5. I've read that the rear lights are slightly different, the mounts are slightly different for the bumper, so was just after some clarity around doing this, has anyone done this? If so please share.
    Thanks in advance.

Yes, rear lights are different as is the rear bar (primarily to accommodate the different shaped lights). Given the difference in the rear bar I *think* the rear mounts should be different too.

Here's a C7.5 rear light on a C7 for you to see the shape difference. Madyspop did the facelift change as well as pAid4 https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...1#post14105455

Nice one, that's answered the first part of my query then. So it's definately lights along with the bumper required. Just need to know what's required to mount the bumper and if its different. And if the lights on the tail gate differ or if its just the quarter ones. Thanks for that

Ok so I'm going to go for it with the full rear face-lift, I will post updates as I progress as haven't been able to search and find any guides or comprehensive part lists for what's required.

    So far I have-
    Bumper Brackets:-
    4G5807394D
    4G5807393D
    4G5807454D
    4G5807453D
    4G5807458A

A 2016 Rear Sline Bumper minus diffuser:-
    4G5807511AG

Im going to be purchasing a Maxton designs rear diffuser, and still have to source some rear lights once I've confirmed the correct part numbers.

Not sure if I have missed any parts but will update as I've got them all and get round to fitting.

Ok so I'm doing some digging and just after any advice that would confirm these are the correct facelift part numbers for the rear lights on a saloon.
    4G5945093C - LH inner
    4G5945094C - RH inner
    4G5945095C - LH outer
    4G5945096C - RH outer
If anyone could advise that would be a great help.
    Thanks in advance.

To adapt the facelift lights it takes a bit more than the lights. If you were interested there is a conversion setup available:

    Taillight Packages | A6, S6 Post-Facelift LED (Sedan, OEM)

You would be selecting your have a Pre-Facelift Rest of World model to ensure you receive the proper items to adapt your model.

Thanks Alex I'm looking to source the parts locally as I'm based in the uk, I've managed to price them up if I have the correct code at around $930 new or cheaper if I can find a breaker with a good set. I'm of the understanding there are cable adapters with a module to allow the dynamic sweep and may be a bit of coding to change via vcds or you have to change the comfort control module? Just hoping to find out the correct part numbers for the saloon facelift so I can look online and message some breakers with the whole covid situation at the moment.

Doing the same atm but on my avant.
Already got S facelift bumper and in the bodyshop to be painted. Maxton diff already arrived aswell. Still just need to find the exact partnumbers for all needed bumper mounts. Anybody can help me out searching them (for some reason i cant search on vin number on etka online sites...i have an facelift avant s line vin number).
I dought the sedan and avant share the same partnumbers for the mounts. In worst case trip too the dealer (but want to source some second hand ones).

My cheat code for VINs is eBay or Auto Trader, the parts supplier doesn't care if it is yours just wants to confirm fitment before ordering.

Im under the impression that the mounts surprisingly are the same, may be worth doing a little digging but when i was searching i could only find one set of part numbers for facelift. Ive got my bumper now which i will be sending to the bodyshop in the next couple of weeks, maxton have emailed me and advised a 3-4 week wait so hopefully can get the bumper painted for when that arrives. Then its just the lights to sort. Have to keep us updated in here with your progress.

I think pAid4 installed facelift style rear lights which still retain the original fitment, i have dropped Madyspop a message for some pointers, just really struggling to find the rear light part numbers for the facelift, well i have the numbers its whether the last letter is a "C" or an "E" and whats the difference between those as they all seem to be listed for A6 sedan 2014/2015 through to 2018 :(

Do you know what you are going to do with your tailpipes? My stock setup is a single tailpipe each side. I've read with the maxton diffuser it makes the stock tailpipes sit too far in. And I prefer the look of the dual tailpipes with the diffuser but I'm a little unsure what I'm going to need to do here.

So my tail lights will be arriving today, I have rear bumper, mounting bracket and diffuser should be here in a week or two, so my next task is how to go about sorting the tail light wiring for the new 8 pin lights to work with the exisiting 6 pin plugs. Having a mare trying to find suitable pre made adaptors, alot are to make pre or facelift act like dynamics but not actually dynamic so I'm not sure if anyone can point me in the right direction with suitable adaptors or diagrams showing how the wiring needs to be done any help will be a saviour at this time

I'm going to drop them a mail tomorrow once I have my vin number to hand, unfortunately on the site it says not suitable for right hand drive cars. Not sure what the difference is apart from maybe fog light and reverse light position so may be a case it needs adapting somehow.

Ok so I emailed kufatec and they've said the adaptors they supply are not suitable for UK spec cars so that's that option out the window. Trying to do a bit of research into what the wiring is to see if it could be adapted, on the off chance I plugged the outer light in which just works no problem so that's half the battle.
Now onto the real battle, the inner lights, car has a 6pin plug (5 pins in use) facelift inner had 8 pin plug (7 pins in use) so not I am absolutely lost as to what to do. I'm not even too bothered about the dynamic function if it will or won't work.

So far on the existing plug on the left inner light I have got to
    Pin 1 - unknown
    Pin 2 - indicator/signal
    Pin 3 - brake
    Pin 4 - tail/side light
    Pin 5 - fog light
    Pin 6 - no pin/not in use.

Anyone got any ideas or clues as to how I could adapt this or what the missing cables/corresponding cables are on the facelift lights?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

I wonder if you couldn't just handle it all through coding; isolate the channels of each light segment and use trial and error to tweak their functionality. I did something like this for adapting the dynamic facelift replicas from china to our C7 OEM plugs. I have a cheat sheet I could share with the stock channels already decoded. send me a PM and I can have a look too and maybe start you in the right direction! I've spent a lot of time working on C7 tail lights haha

TBH I would just go the OEM-style chinese version. Quality is fantastic thus far (installed in Oct 2018) and fitment quite good for a knock-off part. No gap in the rear bumper as they are meant for pre-FL cars. What I can't speak to is the differences in RH vs LH drive cars and such, no experience with that yet.

    best of luck!

Ah that may be the difference between the UK specs as my reverse light is on the right hand side I'm assuming left hand drive has them on the left?

Does your car only have a single reverse light? I'd have to confirm but I thought there was a reversing light on both sides (M16 + M17 on the current flow diagrams - both on pin 6 of the connector).

I would have to double check, I believe there was only reverse lights on the right hand side, the clear lense on the left inner light has a red lense inside in front of a bulb for the fog light function. On the inner plug there are only pins 1-5 within the 6 pin plug with connector with pins if that makes sense.

The outers plug in and work the inners I can't plug in as the car has a 6 pin plug and the facelift inners require an 8 pin plug

So update at the moment is Alex @ europrice is getting me hooked up with a harness to use the lights, I'm hoping I have all the other parts now for the facelift so once I have all the parts il pop some info on the facelift on all going well. So the part I'm wondering about at the moment is do the facelift lights use a different edge plastic trim? I didn't check when I trial fitted so wondering if they are different does anyone have the saloon/sedan part numbers for the facelift. If it's the same parts from the pre facelift then bonus

So harness from Alex@europrice has come and it's pretty much run a couple of cables through and just straight forward plug and play, facelift lights are in and fully functional. Just got to wait for the bumper to come out the bodyshop which should be the weekend and then that and the diffuser can be fitted. I do need to find out the part numbers for the edge plastic trims for the facelift lights though as the pre facelift light ones do not fit 20200820_201048.jpeg

Ok so latest update, rear end is mostly on, just got a couple of bracket for the corners that differ to source, and turns out my a6 had a hidden tow bar fitted which doesn't agree with the diffuser so it's on for now but will be coming back off once I have sourced the brackets and a stock crash bar, then just need to sort the tail pipes out IMG_20200824_171839_908.jpeg

Looking good SEARS. The updated rear end does look a lot fresher.

Cheers Alister, yeah looks loads better, ordered the two side bumper clips I missed and a stock crash bar so the tow crash bar doesn't catch the diffuser, then I need to sort some tailpipes, may have to delete the back boxes to accommodate the pipework as I don't want to remove the active sound and would like them to be connected to both tailpipes each side otherwise one will stay clean and the other will just be connected to the active sound pipe and just look fake. The current setup is strange with the exhaust and active sound connecting as two half circles to match to the single exhaust tailpipe each side

So I've had the bumper off and replaced the tow bar crash bar with a stock one and the last couple of small brackets needed to clip the bumper on so it's all fitting properly now. Got the inner plastic cover trims for the lights just waiting for the covers for the tailgate sides. Got a new tow bar cover cap on order as I ordered one assuming it would fit but didn't. So all coming together now. Just need to sort the tailpipes and should look good. Might go for a boot spoiler but not sure which one to go for, I've got a Maxton designs one which I haven't fitted but I'm not a massive fan of it so don't think il be using it. 20200830_122223.jpeg20200830_125431.jpeg20200830_135429.jpeg20200830_135746.jpeg20200830_135802.jpeg

Great progress! Do you still have your pre FL bumper? I know you went full rear FL but I have a 2014 C7 and want to do that same Maxton diffuser. Do you know if the diffuser fits or is close enough to make fit?

Pretty late to this thread, but hopefully someone can help me. I've been looking for rear diffuser for my 2017 S7. Can't find any that look not super over aggressive. Maxton's rear valance for s6 c7 FL is what I'm looking for design wise.

Question is, would this fit on my s7? Or anyone who has purchased it can give me dimensions?

Hi Sears I'm looking to do the same facelift rear end as you. Could you help me with all part numbers I need to do this conversion and also do I just message Alex at europrice about the same harness that worked for you?

Any help would be much appreciated buddy.

    Thanks Chris
