Best option for carbon side mirror covers?

Hi all. What’s the consensus best option for carbon fiber style side view mirror covers? I’m seeing quite a range price wise and I’m sure there are variances one quality. Thoughts?

99% of the time people will suggest Chinese parts from eBay or Aliexpress. .75% will say carbon wrapped parts. .25% will want OEM. OEM can be had from eBay.de and other European dismantlers.

Well I bought some chinese knockoffs from stonecarbon on ebay along with a few other guys here. Looked great on arrival (weave was only very mildly wavy in one spot). Too bad that they started bubbling within a few months like the clear coat was poor quality. Happened to others here. Took them off and got my oem ones wrapped. Still not super happy with it because there was a little stretch but way better than the bubbling.
Thinking about taking the knockoffs to a body shop and seeing if they can redo the clear coat.

I bought chinese eBay ones from another user on here. Quality looked great to the naked eye and structural integrity seemed fine.

Went to install them.. what a nightmare. the Lane assist doesn't fit properly in the hole and had to sand it down. Lane assist is not 100% flush like the OEM mirrors I took off. Next the glass mirror itself doesn't fit correctly in the housing and only turns about 20% each way sometimes less. I literally cannot turn or move the mirrors for anyone else or I'm afraid of it popping out.

Next time I will go with OEM or have my OEM carbon wrapped. It irks me every time i drive knowing the fitment is shit from China.

live and learn, pay to play i guess

I don’t do “knock off” parts on my Audis as well as I’d not buy my wife a knock off LV purse. You get what you pay for… however I’ve seen some knock off LV stuff and that stuff looked so damn authentic that I couldn’t spot it as fake! Lol-

I was lucky and got OE caps for 2k, I saw it as a great deal. And I like “keeping it real.”

But to answer your initial question, Find OE or have OE caps overlaid with Carbon fiber. I say this with one caveat: The German companies that do that work are in over their heads, if you order from them you have a 50/50 chance of receiving parts in 6-10 weeks, and when buyer protection expires from PP or your CC company, you are shit outta luck. Buyer beware.

Anyone have any experience with Carbon Imports out of Toronto?

I was looking at their CF Mirror Covers and Trunk Lips.

Chinese parts are not inherently terrible, plenty of OEMs and high end brands have manufacturing done there. It's the unknown sellers, questionable product photos and terrible recourse of sending stuff back and forth slow mail that is risky.

6s and 7s do not share mirror assemblies in any way.

    I got mine from https://carbon-designz.com

There has been some customer service challenges recently, but their work is/was top quality.

Just remember that with aftermarket fitted mirrors, only the “top half” of the mirrors get the carbon treatment.

My bottoms are wrapped in matt black.
