    Lightweight Battery

Any of you guys using a lightweight battery such as a pc925 or a lithium battery? How well do they work for everyday driving? Does the lithium battery have enough power and hold a charge well enough?

    Lightweight Battery

Braille G20 ordered through IROZ. Great for events because it’s ~5lbs, but it doesn’t hold a charge for long. I use a charger to help with that but I still drive most of the time with the OEM battery.

Odyssey PC925 and hold down clamp here, installed for 2 years now. No problems at all with starting even after parked for a week. At home I use a trickle charger.

Likely just colloquial semantics, but hopefully you use a 'battery maintainer' and not a 'trickle charger.' A battery maintainer is "smart" and will not overcharge the battery whereas a simple/antiquated trickle charger will. I've used Battery Tender Jr. for many years (both weatherproof type and standard) with nary a problem.

How about an Odyssey PC680? They're about 15lbs. - I use those to crank a 540cid airplane engine without problem. I do wonder how well it would work in my TT RS because it seems to use a lot of power.

Yes, it is a good point! Odyssey recommends a maintainer as too high a voltage will damage the battery over time. I’ve used a CTEK and battery tender Jr. in the past.

A hold down clamp to go around the battery. I’m using the Odyssey one specifically for the PC925.

Which battery maintainer would you recommend? In my case I have the OEM battery, but I don’t use my car that much.

how a lithium battery copes with the Energy Management System on TT's? do I have to code it, or simply plug&play it?
as you know, our OEM battery provides 70 Ah/ 760 CCA while my lithium battery is 20 Ah/400 CCA, so big differences in terms of power (and weight), but I'm unsure about its coding...

As I cited and linked, I use the Battery Tender Jr. [indoor] model and also their weatherproof [outdoor] model, so it depends on your needs. As I have no outdoor need these days I gave the weatherproof model to my son-in-law and he uses not only for his vehicle when on say a business trip but also seasonally to charge up the battery in his lawn tractor.

    Outdoor: https://www.batterytender.com/Batter...ern-Hemisphere

For use with lithium as well as conventional lead-acid: https://www.batterytender.com/Batter...-12V-4A-Select

asking again: does the lithium battery need to be properly coded (considered the significant difference in terms of A/h if compared with OEM one) or is just a plug&play matter??

Based on this video from Ross Tech about coding a new battery and inputing the BEM code and serial number I'm surprised we can run an aftermarket battery without issues. I'd really like to switch out for a 26 pound battery on track weekends
