    Door Lock Actuator replace/repair

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
09 A4 B8... 1 of my 4 door locks work (front passenger). I've seen videos on how to replace and others on how to repair these locks. To start, I'm thinking to replace driver's door and maybe work to repair the two rear locks later.

I've also read that the Porsche part will work and is a bit cheaper than the Audi part. Will this work for my driver's door? https://parts.byersporsche.com/p/Por...783911501.html

What about these Chinese knockoffs? https://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-Front-L...-/112326900857

Can't really use the chinese ones unless you take t hem apart and modify them. Connector type depends on your production date. The one you linked is for the rear left, if you want the front left up to production date 11/02/2009, you want whichever cross references to 8J1837015B

Good call. Dang, can't seem to find one better than this: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...ft/8j1837015b/

I've lived with it for 2 years, maybe I'll just continue to manually lock it, or attempt a repair.

So if you look here at the audi part number. They list all the porsches that its compatible with, then just find the actual porsche part which should be about 120-140 bucks.

If You can repair I will suggest to do so , I reapired my front and rear passenger door , before repair I bought two different brand and the "car" didn't recognize it ,was showing me as faulty when I scan and didn't lock at all . Only what You have to do is to repair the little motor as on the video , I've done both doors over a year ago and still works no problem.

I replaced the driver (left) front door and passenger (right) rear door with "Porsche" actuators. They were about $100 cheaper for the same part. You need to make sure that your mfg date is correct since the connector has changed. I used ECS to verify. https://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B8_A4...dy/Door/Latch/

My A4 B8 Avant had a mfg date of 09/2008. Front driver OEM part was 8J1837015B, Porsche part was 9A783721502. Porsche part even had the SAME Audi part number on it. Rear passenger OEM part was 8K0839016A, Porsche part was 9A783911601. Rear actuator had a sticker over the Audi part number that I didn't take off. Porsche Livermore (Livermore, CA) was great, fast shipping (1 week).

Do this. It takes some time, but it's usually just dirty contacts on the motor. I did this two years ago and they are still good to go.

I have been down this road before ..

Many of the Chinese knock offs that say will fit are missing a pin in the connector. That pin is for the alarm switch door lock sense switch . Without it the car does not know it is there , can not sense the door is locked therefore can not set the alarm. Yes it will fit and the door will open and close and lock , but you will not be able to set the alarm. i don't have the pics anymore i would be able to show it clearly.
Some are missing the whole lock actuator motor.

look at the number of pins on the connector on yours and make sure the replacement has the same , that is the first giveaway. If it doesnt and this is important to you, i would not even install it.

I’m having the same problem rear passenger door lock . I have an 05 A4 b6 and rear passenger door will not lock when locked from driver side and with key remote. I already replaced the lock actuator and checked the rear fuse #23. I don’t know if there’s more fuses. It used to work but then you couldn’t open the door from inside or outside handle. The dealer tore my panel off and I had it replaced with a used actuator. They said to buy a new actuator and not a used one. Before I buy a new one does anybody have an idea what’s wrong or having this problem please lmk as soon as possible. I’ve been having this problem for over a year.

This is the B8 forum, not the B6.

I just replaced the right (passenger) rear door lock actuator in my 2009 A4 and used a Porsche part from the Sunset Porsche online store and it was a perfect match and it works 100% correctly, including all alarm functions such as lights, internal beep, etc. My horn doesn't honk when locking but it didn't before so that is either not how any B8s work, or that is how my particular car is set up, I don't know. Porsche part number was 9A7-839-116-01 for the right rear. Price was $145 total including shipping. Audi dealer wanted $350 and local VW dealer wanted $415 and wouldn't order using a VW part number. My local Audi dealer confirmed that some of these parts are exactly the same between Porsche, Audit, and VW. I personally found that the hard part for me was cross referencing the different part numbers, Audi to something else. My car is a 2009 model manufactured 08/2009. Just wanted to pass along my experience as I researched this but was still a bit unsure as to whether or not the Porsche part would work.

The lock acknowledgement sound can be modified through the mmi so dig around there a little bit and you’ll have that too.

Repair the 12v motor doesnt seems to bad, is it?? The biggest part of the job is taking the door apart and take the actuator itself !

Have you managed to replace everything on your own? Audi has the most complicated body structure of the car I've ever had. The Audi doors have so many components and electronic elements that even for a professional locksmith is hard to figure everything out. Workers from emergency locksmith sw10 helped me to install new handlers and get rid of electronic lock dysfunctions.
