    Brake wear light reset

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I installed new pads/rotors a while back but the brake wear light is on. The new pads do have the sensor and it's plugged in. How do I reset this light? I have an OBDEleven device. I've been unable to find anything on RossTech or OBDEleven forums. Anyone?

if the connector is properly connected, the brake warning light must disappear.
you can make a temporary bridge on the connector coming from the vehicle, to understand if the reason is other than a faulty brake pads connector or broken pads wire

not to hijack a thread, my bbk front pads don't have a sensor, so the dashboard brake light stays on. I run vcds and it tells me its there's an error then clear it, yet it the dashboard light remains!

I have G-Loc street pads (TTRS). Both sides have the sensor, even though the driver's side is the only one with a plug. Plug is secured, but I did not try the passenger side pad to test for a faulty sensor in the driver's side pad. If it should clear on its own, then perhaps the G-Loc sensor is bad....

I may try running some long wires to the other side of the car tomorrow and test.

Following. I would like my light out too without having to just bridge the wires together

If your new pads don't have a sensor then you have no choice. Make it reversible by making a frig by cutting the plug and a couple of inches of wire off the old pads. Solder the two ends together and insulate. Then plug it in and tie it back out of the way. Now if your next set of pads do have a sensor you can take the frig out and use the sensor on the new pads.

G-Loc won't respond to me anymore after I confirmed the sensor is bad. Laughable at best, i'm not pleased. I'm probably just going to bridge it.

I upgraded the brakes earlier this year after trashing the OEMs in 10k miles (and several track days lol) and thought we could defeat the warning with VCDS like other vehicles but I have not been able to. It's funny that you can deselect the option for a wear sensor, but all it does is change the font and size of the warning in the display. lol

Anyway, I didn't keep my old pads so I have no harness to clip and solder. I found this which looks like the same design as the connector but it is not listed as fitting the MK3.

I guess if it doesn't work I'm just out $15, but what do you folks think, should this work?

If not....um.....anyone want to sell me their old pad with wear sensor harness I can clip off? lol
