Got a softball for you guys, just need a couple answers. I'm sticking with my OE black optics package wheels on my 2015 Q5 3.0T, but am having them powder coated black and getting new tires. While I'd like to change the offset and go wider, I'm just not that interested in spending the extra cash on wheels that likely won't be as durable as the stock Audi rims. Giving some thought to spacers - have attitudes about spacers changed with tire shops? Last I checked they often won't even install them.

    1) So, with 20x8.5 wheels, are there any sizes I should consider other than the stock 255/45?

    2) The Conti DWS06 tires seem very popular in this forum but I've always been much happier with Michelins than any other make. Planning on going with Pilot Sport AS3 - change my mind?

    TIA

I am finding my dws06s to be really loud, fwiw. Could be they are getting worn and could be that I am running at the higher sq tire pressure (not sure why this is btw?). I know everyone here swears by them. They came on my cpo sq5 and I will probably go Michelin next.

I've been running spacers for over a decade with ZERO issues. In regard to shops, it's rare for them to be bothered these days. With proper spacers.... once installed - they're essentially extensions of the hub/wheel mount pad. Go 10mm front, 12mm rear and 265/45 rubber. Trust me

I like them from perspectives of performance (they're solid in both dry and wet conditions), tread wear, and aesthetic. They're definitely not the most quiet option. I suspect you'll be very happy with a move to Michelin. You didn't mention size or preferred spec, so I'm guessing you've got that covered. But if not, you'll certainly get some good feedback here.

The Official Q5/SQ5 Wheel Thread - Post your setup!

Anybody know if 20x10.5 might be too aggressive for B9 SQ5?

Planing on changing my 20s black optics with my friends old 20x10.5 wheels.

Planing on painting them black too. Thanks!

I'm going to give a 'yes' gut response, but it really depends on the offset spec of the 10.5 wheels. If you can share that you'll get some solid feedback.

It's all about the offset. They would look perfect if the offset is right. I have 295 dws06 on 9.5" -21 wheels. 295 on 10.5 would look perfect!
Sq5 looks massive on 295! But than I look at my 325's (soon 335) on my x6m and the 295's doesn't look that massive anymore

Its going to be pretty aggressive and by that I mean a lot of poke. I would also be concerned that you may not have the inner clearance at that offset. If that's the case, you'll have to run spacers and then it's going to look nuts!

I came across a guy on Instagram that is running 22x10.5 et35 but he had to run 265's

    Check out his page: @gaaberap

Also, MOPS is going to be the best source of exactly how it's going to sit.

I think that offset might be your saving grace. ET30 seems to be the magic number with 295s on the B9. From memory I only remember seeing 10" wheels on the B9, but for me it's really tread poking out that starts to look whack, and that's obviously not effected by wheel width. Especially if you drop it down a little lower with links or the Cete module I think the slightly more aggressive fitment might work. I believe you'd be the guinea pig though.

Agreed that the DWS are not quiet but they are an awesome tire. The only other tire that I can find that might be a good option from Michelin is the A/S3+. They are slightly more expensive but are they a good tire?

    10mm inboard from this -

I'm not 100% certain they'll clear the suspension, but no matter, with 5mm spacers you'll have a killer fitment.

Yeah I'm definitely thinking about the CETE module. It's third on my list of priorities right now though.

    1. AWE Intake
    2. APR ECU Tune
    3. CETE Module

I was trying so hard to not spend money on this car too. Sold my F80 M3 to get something a bit more family and budget friendly. Oh well.

I said the same about my Q5... then my S5... and now the SQ5. It's too fun to mod and hanging around in forums is like being around a bunch of (very friendly) enablers haha

Mops... need some info for a potential winter setup. I'm looking to do BBS SX 0501, 19x8.5, ET32 - on 255/50 winter tires. Have photos of this setup/stance? If I want more fender fill what size spacers front and rear to push these a little further out?

    thanks

I do not, but you can get pretty good idea looking at the 20x9 ET25 setups here. With 10mm spacers, you'd be pretty much pretty much flush, and equal to what 9" ET28 would look like. But for winter, you might be okay to run no spacer and be ~10mm inboard from flush. Or shoot for just short of flush with 5mm. BBS does the 66.6 PFS spacers in both 5mm and 10mm, so you're covered no matter.

Question for you guys. Does anyone know if the Macan GTS Spyder wheels will fit a 2015 Q5 P+? I believe the specs are 20x9 ET26 fronts and 20x10 ET19 rears. I have searched all over for info on this and pictures but can't come up with anything. If you guys know of any pictures of this setup on a Q that would be awesome too! Thanks!!

The specs are pretty solid. There is a 19mm F/R variance. I'd run a 10-12mm front spacer and call it sexy time.

    We'll be eagerly awaiting photos

I have an extra set of 20s from my wife’s Macan with winter tires that I am going to be test (on my sq) fitting this winter. Very curious to see how it looks. A little stressed about matching radius f and r.

Looks good Darth! 275 rubber? I didn't even know the CV10 were out until this week. And only because I sold a set of 22" ones for a Q7. More pics

Picked up an SQ5 today and so excited to get started. Scoured through every page of this thread. Looking at a set of wheels on ECStuning. Will this size/offset be good or too aggressive? thinking about 265/45/20 tire to go with.

    Ferrada FR2 wheels
20"x10.5" ET35 66.6CB 5x112 Matte Black with Gloss Black lip.

Any advice/pics of similar set up is much appreciated.

I'm assuming the wheels on the silver are the 20x10.5. Do you know the offset and tire size?

    Ferrada FR2 wheels

20"x10.5" ET35 66.6CB 5x112 Matte Black with Gloss Black lip.
These will be fine on B8.5. Mine are this size, but at ET25. ET30 should be fine, but you may need small spacers depending on you tire selection. The ideal tire size is 295/40/20, but at ET35, you may want to try a 285 or 275.

i have a fitment question for all the guru's here. I found an online deal on some winter tires and jumped on it. normally I'd buy wheels first and then tires to match, but didn't want to miss out on the deal so now I have tires and I'm in the market for winter wheels.

the tires are 275/40/20. I'm aware that an Ideal winter tire would be a bit more narrow with a bit more sidewall, but I love the 295/40/20's I run in the summer and didn't want to stray too far from that look for the winter setup.

So my question is, what's an ideal width for a 20" wheel on a 275/40 tire? I assume 9.5" or 10" would be great with et 25-30, but could I also get away with 9" or 10.5" without too much bulge or stretch?

advice, opinions and ridicule all encouraged!

Brad winters usually run quite chunky. So 10” would look square and pretty meaty with 275 winter rubber. Even 275 on 10.5 looks good as you can see on Matt’s SQ -

    thanks mops.

i was originally going to throw these on my CH-Rs and jump to a 21" setup for next summer, but i love these wheels too much to put them through a new england winter.

i really like the look of silver rs5 rotors on a black q5, but those are only 20x9 et 26 so i'm not sure they'd work with 275/40/20 tires.

if i don't go with rotors i'll probably just wait for a black friday sale and grab some 10" vossens or vorsteiners. if i could find a set of the old vorsteiner deep concave vff 102's in brilliant silver i'd be all over them, but the vossen vfs-1 in brushed silver is a similar look that might work.

The RS5 rotors on 275/40 would actually be pretty damn perfect. Should be spot on flush. If you did find some 102's, you'd have to run much more spacer than you'd like. Especially for winter. I'm pretty certain they need 10mm, 12mm worst case putting you at ET18-20. Not idea for winter.
