in theory you can turbocharge just about any engine. Most factory turbocharged cars are setup with a motor that has a lower compression ratio than an NA motor. To properly turbocharge an NA motor running on pump gas it would be best to setup the motor similar to a factory turbocharged motor. In the b6 b7 s4 this would require either a piston set or opening up the chambers (CC) in the heads and on a 5 valve head this would require a lot of cylinder head work.
Turbochargers are not very efficient running at a low pressure say 6psi, or easy to design when they are working at near minimal operation.

But a properly engineered after-market turbocharger system in an Audi s4 with a 4.2 or stroker kit and 8.5-1 compression would be the fastest s4 on the planet. Might also be the most expensive s4 on the planet

If you do ur homework right it can be dun and and for ALOT cheaper then u think.
Im actually at my friends house helping him turbo charge is BMW 330CI ZHP which is the first turboed ZHP out there. they say it cant be dun but boost is boost the only prob u will run into is our compression on 4.2L V8's are really high unles u wanna play around with the compression the u can only boost like 6 pounds on pump gas and maybe up to 8-10 pounds on C-16... IM actually considering turbos on my car as well, but im still considering wether i keep my car or not... if i do im gonna do my own turbo set up and not blow $$$ on kits u would be AMAZED at how cheap it can be dun for.... if your a do it yourselfer that is.

It can and has been done to the engine, MTM has done it for their production car. It's called the Apollo, it has a Twin turbo set up on the S4 engine. However, a TT B6/B7 S4 engine has not been fitted into a B6 or B7 body, YET. I heard it's gonna take a lot of moving parts around from the engine bay and also probably cutting the firewall.

thats the main issue, theres so little room, its nearly impossible to create something that is worthwhile given the space near the exhaust manifolds and everywhere for that matter
