Anyone every used this oil filter for their s3 any reviews. thinking of ordering this. since kn makes decent filter. the other brands just like cheap paper and its like $1 dollar cheaper than a micro guard or wix filter.

A lot of guys act like you better get OEM or you're gonna ruin your motor, but I bought wix and have been using those. I actually found them to be higher quality construction over OEM. And yes, KN does make good oil filters in general, so I would say use with confidence.

I’ve used those red K&N oil filters before on my other cars. No problems.

I personally will never use K&N oil filters. I'm in the motorcycle industry and I have seen multiple K&N oil filter failures. From blowing open to coming apart internally. I know its a spin on vs insert but wanted to share. I'm also one of those "only use OEM" guys.

Agreed. Why even bother going aftermarket when you can get the OE filter for almost the same price (~$1 more)? It's one thing when there's actual proof if that particular filter is actually BETTER. But when there's no proof one way or the other, especially with no cost benefits, I don't understand why would anyone want to risk going with an unknown aftermarket filter.

K&N "Made In Korea" ($8.99) vs MAHLE "Made In Austria" ($7.78) vs MANN "Made in Germany" ($8.82)

I'd pick the ones made in Europe, since our cars are made there. If they're good enough for OEM they're good enough for me. Can't imagine the K&N could be any, if much better. Plus the OEMs are so cheap. I personally trust Audi engineers specified a overly sufficient filter when they designed the engine.

Does K&N even maker their own oil filter?
Across multiple car brand owned, I have just buy OEM or equivalents made by Wix(Napa gold) or Purolator.
