2016 Audi A6 Quattro
WAUEFAFL6BN046687
I have been living a nightmare in regard to my MMI/5F module in my A6. Over a period of time the sound was in and out with a crackling noise. Then the sound wouldn't work at all. A few months ago I was getting some work done on my vehicle and was quoted $4,000 for miscellaneous things, including a new 5F module. I took it to the dealer to get work done because it was winter and honestly... after doing a timing chain job, etc. etc. and correcting all of the mishaps by myself on my B8 A4... I needed a break. The whole 5F module though? I was being cheap and wanted to save $1,300 off of the $4,000... I asked the dealer if I got one on my own, 'would you be able to code it for me'? They said yes. I asked for the part number (I trusted them because they were the dealer so I didn't think to look into it) and obtained a 5f module on my own and installed it. Taking it back to the dealer... they could not take off component protection. They gave me an 'outdated part number' they said and couldn't code it. This Audi dealer is connected to a Hyundai dealer in which they also own... I think the techs have no idea what they are doing. Long story short, I obtained another module (exact part number/supersession) and took my vehicle there a total of 4 more times! On my last visit, my regular advisor wasn't there and in the end I was told they couldn't do anything, they tried everything, and charged me another $179.00 hourly shop fee. I was kind of pissed off to be honest... They called me an hour after that and left and left a voicemail, "I talked to the head of my department and they have other ideas, if you would like to bring it in again, we can try again..." I'm never going back to that dealer. That advisor treated me like I was a clueless person. I didn't even respond, the whole ordeal was just suspicious. It's simple in ODIS, the fact that they "couldn't do it", after they tried and tried... strange. I know they technically don't have to, but they told me yes, then had me come back over and over again...After I left the dealer I immediately took it to an independent audi/vw shop and they took the component protection off in 5 minutes. YAY, SOUND! Finally! However, there was an SVM error on there and the navigation and bluetooth still did not not work. I was supposed to bring it back so I could drop it off for longer... but then the world suddenly changed.
On my own I was able to remove the SVM error by inputting a XOR calculation. The other issues... I still need to somehow figure them out. The only way I can think of is to get coding from a 5f module (if someone has more modules I'd love those to) from a vehicle similar to mine. Not a scan, but a FULL backup. Its also possible I messed up the coding somewhere. I misplaced the backup on an SD card. Why can't I get it off of my other module? Well... I didn't think I would need it and I was getting frustrated (before the component protection was taken off) and I took it apart (roughly) to take off the EEPROM chip from the motherboard and solder it on the other module to attempt to bypass the component protection....lol don't judge me, I was at my wits end... I put it back together, miraculously, but its locked up, it won't even recognize that the vehicle is on, as it states "turn on ignition." I would take my vehicle back to the independent shop, but as we all know, they are closed due to the world situation.
Please Help.
Much love and appreciation!
