anyone ever blown off their PCV hose before?

I was kinda surprised by this myself. Punched it getting on the highway today and all of the sudden it started missing and sputtering, and I could barely keep it running. Check engine light started blowing up, when I got off the highway, the PCV hose going to the intake manifold had blown off and was laying on the trans. I changed the O-rings on it which tightened it up a bit but it was still pretty loose fitting. The Vaico PCV manifold, which oddly has been on the car since the day I bough it about 4 years ago didnt want to hold the push clips at all. So I wound up ordering a new one from europa parts.

Yeah man I almost stalled and didn’t make it home. Thankfully was just a small test drive.

Mine was caused by strain on the hose from over extending it around the meth nozzles in the intake manifold and trying to fit a boost tap on the IM. Soon as I hit 10psi just like you said you could just hear it kinda pop. I ended up losing the clip on the boost tap that actually blew off and separated from the pcv hose. Seems like these hoses don’t like any amount of strain on them at all.

I just solved my issue of how to restore a reliable boost reference today using a new vac hose with 2 integrated boost taps. One is a no buzz fitting.

I wish I had a way to make a molded rubber hose to just slip over those ends and put a clamp on. It would be 100x more reliable. Now im worried every time I get into boost this thing is going to blow the hell off. With a tight o-ring and really forcing it into the adapter, the intake manifold end seems to pass the pull test but the PCV side I can just yank off.

I considered trying to make a silicone hose. Ecs offers kits for the b7 but not the b8.

I found these that you might like. Can make you’re own -an line

    Edit:

It pulls off after making the click that it’s fully seated? Maybe the pcv side is worn down

Yeh I thought about doing that too. My buddy has the capability of making AN hoses so if it keeps being a problem I might have to go that route. I did buy a replacement PCV and thats what im thinking, the PCV side is just not holding well because its a shitty vaico unit. Doesn't seem to have the same snap that the hose has when it attaches to the metal ECS adapter.

I'd zip tie the thing so it couldn't blow off again. No it doesn't look good but it would be functional, at least until you get your replacement parts.

meh a black zip tie and not many would notice.. especially if you use the engine cover.

The only thing you could get a tie around is the push to release clips which are pretty flimsy

And what, slip the hose over the ziptie to clip onto? Because a zip tie around the quick release section doesn't hold anything, it just slides off.

Yes, I've had this issue twice since running 24 psi of K04 boost. I chalked it up to the ECS boost tap I have on the intake manifold which causes the hose to extend and contort a bit more than usual. One time it was user error, where I pinched the o-ring trying to get the hose into the ECS boost tap. It was pinched underneath, so I couldn't see it until it blew off.

Bought a brand new hose. This was about 2 years ago.

Last July I had the hose randomly blow off. Upon inspection, it was not damaged and it would slide on and off the boost tap very easily. There was almost no locking feature to it. I was puzzled. I ordered a new hose and it did the exact same thing! So now I was suspect of the ECS boost tap. Got a new one sent out but never needed to install it. Next day I went out and both hoses snapped in easily and locked pretty solidly. Very very weird.

Zip ties are not a good method to keep this hose from blowing off. It might make the blow out a little less severe, but they don't give it a good enough lock.

Yeh I changed both o-rings on the hose which gave it a slightly tighter fit and really forced it onto the boost tap. It seemed to pass the pull test on that side but it just slips right off of the PCV, so I went ahead and ordered a new PCV because of the shit vaico one the car came with seems to not have a very good lip on the end of the barb to grab. If that doesn't do the trick ill have to see about replacing the whole hose or just mocking up something with a rubber hose.

Lol happened to me but with CTS' block off that came with their CC. I just ended up using a hose with a clamp to block it off. Doesn't look nice but it does the job.

Use multiple, one fairly tight around the hose and one slipped under the first one then around the small part that sticks up on the pcv, the coil harness or anything else it can wrap around. Two loops hooked together, one holds onto the hose and the other pulls the hose towards the pcv. Hope that makes sense.

This happened to me tonight after datalogging some 3rd gear pulls with my k04 for traptalk to read. Man I thought I messed my car up and wasnt gunna make it home. Popped the hood and there is was. PCV hose came off. Is this because of alot more boost? Is zip tie the fix?

Should probably get a new hose. The clips weaken
