    Got beat by a Kia...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I had a friendly drag race with a buddy that has a Kia Stinger with a JB4 tune, downpipe, and intake. The S4 pulled hard on him off the line, he only came around me on the big end. Got me by a car. I’m wondering if I should get a JB4 for the S4 now. Car is currently all stock. What are people seeing on 93 tunes with the JB4?

In the mean time I’m going to keep going through the pages of the JB4 thread haha.

Well, the Kia has more power even stock, however it's a bit heavier. Not surprised. Tuned it'll surely do that. But at the end of the day, just remember he still has to get out of his car and look at it, only to see a Kia...

Hahah very true. I don’t want to mess with the warranty on the car, so I figured the car should pick up quite a bit of power for the most cost effective option with the JB4. Just curious 1/4 mile wise, what the straight 93 fuel people are running.

    I believe with bolt-ons they're running high 11s, low 12s.

The only thing I’m jealous about the Kia stinger is they have a flat bottom HEATED steering wheel lol.

The JB4 is nice but it's kind of tacky compared to the software available for these vehicles. I suggest you go with the IE setup That's what I have and I can tell you that a stinger cannot hang with me. I give hellcats a run for their money from a dig.

    I’ve heard their 3.3tt trap about 116mph with tunes and bolt-ons. That’s pretty quick - on par with S4 JB4 on E40.

Those Genesis (not the model, their more upscale brand/line) are actually pretty nice. And they dont look half bad. Not sure on the performance though.

Hyundai/Kia get by by offering great value in a vehicle that still inevitably falls apart as soon as the warranty is over. Seems like a good deal, but the dealers are terrible and most of the features will end up failing either before 100k miles or immediately after. When I sold my Optima, bluetooth would hardly connect or work half the time, the backup camera was broken, and most of the speakers were failing. I treat my vehicles very well, but that thing just wasn't built for long-term use.

Stinger GT is no joke from a performance perspective.

It's just too bad that Kia and Genesis [aka Hyundai] decided to go upscale with their current dealer network rather than following the Lexus model. The G70 and Stinger would have been on my radar but I'm not willing to put up with the buy-here-pay-here lot quality of their dealers.

It doesn't matter how fast you get there if you arrive in a Kia.

Seriously though. Stinger is a great car. It deserved better sales.

The Kia/Hyundai dealer network (Kia in particular) tends to be low quality. Those brands had such poor quality product for so long that the dealers had to focus on buyers who could not obtain financing at other dealers, or afford cars from other brands. The dealer culture tended to become viewing customers as profit centers rather than clients. As just one example, see all of the dealers trying to mark up the non-limited production Telluride and Palisade by $10k because they're the first decent SUVs to hit their lots (https://jalopnik.com/who-is-paying-t...kia-1841130938). Not at all what you would encounter at an Audi or Lexus dealer.

    2. B5 S4 with 170k+ on the clock and a 2006 A3 that had 130k when I got rid of it. Neither fell apart the way my Kia did. Again, great value for the vehicles, but the fit, finish and quality was so poor it made it not worth it after the initial purchase. Plus did I mention the dealers sucked?

Yeah these newer audis (bmw's and merc's too) are much more reliable than the germans of the past. even when tuned

That's why I love my Audi, my S5 had multiple issues BEFORE the warranty was over and would've cost me a lot of money if they failed later. Things that were done under new car warranty:
    1. sunroof guide
    2. engine timing chain rattling TSB
    3. One speaker
    4. Alternator

I need to get rid of this car before 100K miles since most of the repairs happened around 45K ~ 50K miles and they might fail again around 100K.
But anyhow, it costs me 0 dollar on repairs for this car and it has 79K miles, I am happy.

I do wonder how long the modding community actually holds their cars. Historically, I've done about 50,000 ish miles before I start looking at other options, but with the cost of this Audi, I may keep it a bit longer....so I can justify the RS6 :)

I plan on keeping it at least 7 years. If longer it will be a daily driver once I acquire the next car

I think BROCKDM trapped 118 with a JB4 on 93 oct (Map 4). His ET was in the mid 11s.

Yes sir! Dias and I are two of the quickest from what I've seen on stock turbo, JB4 and pump gas. I need to find a better surface and get a good launch down but I'm impressed none the less!

I'm fortunate enough to have E 85 and Sunoco 100 around me so I can mess around with things. From talking to George my IAT are way to high see I think I will improve some more with the IC.

I have a jb4, intake and on Map5 with e85 splash...I smoked (what I assume was stock) Kia Stinger. those things are a joke, and look awful. I also dusted a Dodge Viper Scat with the JB4. Honestly aside from the major exotics and some of the big American muscle I am confident I can take most of what is out there. Oh yeah, Subaru STI, same, dusted. I am getting consistent 3.5 3.6s on Dragy 0-60. Car is an animal, so yes you should get a jB4 because they are worth the money and your car will be even MORE of a sleeper than it already is.

Yes, wishful thinking on my part, Charger..Dusted it, twisty road too. Car is a sled, I have driven one, drove the whole range before i came to my senses and bought an Audi. Not lying about it. JB4 didn't beat it, my S4 did.

Yup, drove one too, fast in a straight line, once it gets moving, but handles like absolute garbage. So is the interior, it's like they try to make it fancy, but fail miserably. And don't even get me started on their MMI or whatever they call it. Yuck.

Agreed...I mean maybe in a straight line the Scat takes me at the end of a half mile or so, but who cares, thats not real driving. Scats aren't even breaking the 4 second mark 0-60, not sure why people think they are so great. The Hellcat on the other hand is a burner, if you can control the thing. Audi takes that thing off the line too but the HC would reel it in pretty quick.
