    2020 Nardo Edition RS3?!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    https://www.autoblog.com/2020/04/03/audi-rs3-nardo/

"Audi Expanded the RS 3 range with a sporty, well-equipped limited-edition model named after the famous Nardo track in southern Italy. Unveiled online (regrettably with only this single poor photo), it's aimed at enthusiasts who value handling above all.

Car-spotters will tell the Nardo Edition apart from the regular-production RS 3 thanks to a light shade of gray paint appropriately called Nardo Gray, contrasting black trim all around, and red brake calipers visible through 19-inch alloy wheels. Inside, stylists added red accents, floor mats embroidered with the RS logo, plus Audi's Carbon trim. Photos of the interior haven't been published yet, so we'll need to take the company's word for it.

Navigation -- a $2,000 option on the standard RS 3 -- comes standard. Nardo buyers will also get a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, as well as an infotainment system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

There are no mechanical changes to report. The Nardo keeps the RS 3's 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder engine. It develops 394 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque, and its distinctive exhaust note serenades the passengers with a sport exhaust system that features black tips. The turbo-five's output travels through a seven-speed automatic transmission and Audi's Quattro all-wheel drive system to send the RS 3 from zero to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds, and the Nardo model's top speed checks in at 174 mph, 19 faster than the standard model's.

The electronic magnetic ride suspension technology also found in the TT and the R8 stays in the parts bin. Instead, Audi fitted the Nardo with a fixed sport suspension that promises to make the RS 3 sharper to drive (though almost certainly less comfortable).

On sale now, the 2020 Audi RS 3 Nardo Edition is limited to 200 units in the United States. It carries a base price of $60,895 once a $995 destination charge enters the equation. For context, the regular 2020 RS 3 starts at $57,195, so the Nardo package adds $3,700 to the bottom line. Ticking the option boxes that correspond to the extra equipment would bump the sedan's price by $5,400, so Nardo buyers will comfortably come out ahead.

The Nardo Edition is one of the last variants of the current-generation RS 3. Although the model remains on sale across America, Audi started replacing the A3 it's based on when it released the fourth-generation hatchback in early 2020. Replacements for the A3 sedan, the S3, and, of course, the RS 3 are on their way."

So basically 200 more nardo cars. haha

So... the most common color, and equipment/options that's already been available since the start. I don't really see the point of this "special edition"?

Agree with above posters. There's nothing really limited to this edition. Everything as equipped on the special edition could be had on a regular order. My car is essentially the same as this minus the fixed sports suspension and red trim.

Wonder how much dealers will try to get above MSRP for these "special" editions.

as per the fourtitude article it comes with black badges... not that that’s difficult to get done on our cars (I’m currently waiting on mine to come in from e-acca), but I don’t think we could order it here

What did they charge you for shipping? I have been thinking about ordering but too lazy to ask them about shipping.

Maybe it will have a *insert number* of 200 or whatever badged on there somewhere depending on which one you get lol. Otherwise, it seems pointless and nothing at all is different based on that article. Unless there's more to come on this.

I paid in EUR in order to avoid the ridiculous paypal exchange rate... shipping itself was €4.70, the total including shipping came to €139.93 for me (not sure if I will get dinged with duty when it gets here).

Also, sorry didn’t realize it was available on the 2020, is it available in Canada as well? At least that should make the badges available for purchase from North American Audi dealers directly.

The dealer I work at has a Nardo Edition, It essentially gives you the black optics, black badging, dynamic package, tech package, nav at a lower cost.
We have a white RS3 with the same options (except with mag ride) and it has a 64K sticker where as the Nardo edition as the same options but at 60K and change sticker.

So in the end Audi is making 200 Nardo cars, with the normal options, minus ACC and mag ride, at a lower cost.

Personally, Audi cancelled my Exclusive RS3 order today so I may jump the gun and pick up our Nardo Edition we got in.

Ah ok. So if you don’t mind having a fixed suspension it’s actually a better deal as long as the dealer doesn’t place a markup on it.

Yea when i first saw this in the news i was sad that i may have missed out (since i have a 2020 on order). However after reading the details it literally offered nothing over what i ordered except a 174mph speed limiter. And was a no-go for me since it has fixed suspension. Needless to say i am content again. I ordered white but if this was truly more special my color pref could have been influenced. Yes it is a little cheaper because you basically get the virtual cockpit free (however im sure audi is paying the same since they arent paying for mag ride or an optional paint)

So basically they did what Porsche does with GTS models by giving you a bunch of popular options for a little less than if you had spec'd them separately. How original.

If they wanted to create an "RS3 that values handling above all" Then put a damn LSD in the rear and re-calibrate the quattro system so this little beast can get some real oversteer.

Then we can all go look up the parts on audi parts finder and we can all have RS3's that handle

^^While yes porsche gts models generally just bundle some options they often have special facias/badging/and a little power bump as well...so while i agree with your analogy i also think this is worse. This is literally the same car you can option a “normal” rs3 to be except for the top speed limiter.

The fact that navigation is a $2,000 option on a $56,000 car in 2020 is ridiculous.

What's the point of doing Nardo when it offers no value as it's a standard RS colour anyway??? And sorry, but who wants to drive the same colour that 40% of other RS3 owners drive anyway?? I agree with @robopp, do a colour like Noggy Blue so there's some exclusivity to the 200 run. WTF are Audi marketing thinking???

What about an exclusive wheel style like an S/RS5 rotor or something that looks nice and aggressive. Blades suck dog's ballz.

This is literally the same RS3 you can already buy. Makes no sense.

Well to me it seems that although it is called “navigation” and it includes it i think most ppl are paying for the virtual cockpit not to get the navi...

That being said why the virtual cockpit isnt standard in an RS car and at this price is another discussion in line with your thinking.

I don’t know enough about US spec cars, but for all Canadian cars the 280 km/h (174 mph) top speed limiter has always been part of the Sports package (fixed sport suspension, carbon fiber engine cover, raised speed limiter). My 2018 has that package (I was worried about getting the fixed suspension, but it was part of the car I could get a good deal on and had everything else I wanted... and so far I actually like the suspension!)

To me it would have been surprising if the Nardo Edition didn’t come with the higher top speed limiter considering it does come with the fixed sport suspension.

Agree. It is more comparable to Porsche's "Black Edition" models which typically wrap up the end of a model run.

I have seen a number of posts now on this tread about the Fixed Suspension. I like you also have the Sport Package with the 280 km/h (174 mph) package and I can say that I love the Fixed Ride Suspension. I have had my 2018 Glacier White RS3 for just over 1 year and the Suspension has just worked itself in to the perfect ride. To all the new to RS3 folks out there, don't be afraid of the FR suspension as it will surprise you.

^^ I wanted a fixed suspension in the first place but the Audi package was absurd, you would have to get the ceramic brakes I think, wasn't it a $4900 option? I don't like the magnetic ride.

    2020 Nardo Edition RS3?!

In Canada it was separated out from the ceramic breaks. The Sport Package was CAD $1,750... ceramic breaks were over 5 grand up here (I definitely didn’t want those even if they had been cheaper)

Note: my 2018 is a later build date, I don’t know if the early Canadian 2018s had the combined package as well

So am I allowed to call my 2018 Nardo gray RS3 a special edition now? LOL. I have fixed suspension and CCBs. Love the suspension but the CCBs are pretty grabby for daily driving. Rebadged with black badges immediately. No fancy red interior trim however. Although Nardo gray may be the most popular RS3 color, I love it with the BO package. And there are no RS3s in my area at all. Audi could have done better by promoting a package with different distinctive wheels and perhaps some graphics package. Then again, not all potential Audi buyers are aware of the information we find on this fine forum.

Strangely enough I've been looking for a Nardo RS3 and I stopped by an Audi dealer today who supposedly had one in inventory. Well, he didn't. It had been sold.

Anywho, he told me his sister dealership had 2 and printed out the Monroney sheets for both of them. That's when I saw "Nardo Edition". WTF ?

I had noticed the MSRP listed as 60,895.n I had previously priced on the Audi site that a loaded RS3 in Nardo would fo for just under $63K so I went back and re-priced it and the only way I could get down to 60,895 was to delete the 2K NAV system. Seriously ? So I ass-umed any Nardo listed at only 60,895 was lacking NAV.

And just as a previous member said " A car of this price without NAV. NFW !!!" LOL

So just today I learned about the existence of the "Nardo Edition".

Anyway, it pretty much looks to me as about a savings of a little over 2K from the car priced out instead of the "Edition".

The only concern I have about it is the fixed suspension. In reading a number of reviews the consensus seemed to be that the fixed sport suspension probably should be a pass as it resulted in a considerably harsher ride than the standard magnetic ride.

Any chance any of you guys have ridden in both and can offer an opinion of both ?

A few years back I had wondered about the resonator delete option for an S3 and if it'd be too loud for normal driving and was told not to worry about it. He was absolutely right. Sounds great without the resonator.

So I guess I trust youse guys.

    TIA

    TIA
I traded in a 2019 STI for a 2020 Nardo edition. I was worried about the ride on the fixed shocks. After driving it, it rode, and drove so much nicer than the STI. The roads in Kansas are hot garbage and it was much more compliant back to back driving the two. Would I prefer the mag ride? Probably but don't dismiss the fixed.

Compared to magride on my s3, fixed suspension on the rs3 feels 1000x better.
