Black Optic Package

Good morning everyone-
Currently in the market for a B9 S4. I thought I had found my car, but I was literally half a day late.
I did a search but could not find my answer, so here goes. If I were to buy an S4 without the Black Optic package, is it feasible to add in some fashion? I know I could wrap the window trim, but if there is a sensible solution to adding this aftermarket, I'd welcome any advice.

You could buy a set of the Rotor style wheels that come with the BO package from the classified section of this site. There are aftermarket black grill and mirror caps available as well on the internet. Not sure on the cost of all these parts though.

That said, I would wait for a car equipped with the BO package.

Hmm I have it and I think its worth waiting out IMO, are you having a hard time finding the exact combo your looking for?

There are people here who have done conversions (see @Yabi ), but I think it will cost more in time, parts, and headache to get it done aftermarket. I would get it from the factory if you really want the default look. Now, if you plan on getting it from the factory, and then replacing the grill with RS style, and are looking to get aftermarket wheels anyway, then getting the factory BO package might not be such a great deal.

If you feel safe traveling, dont be afraid to go out of your way to find your car. I live in St. Louis and bought my S4 in Maryland. Had all the specs I wanted, and it was the best CPO deal in the country at the time. It was the best road trip of my life lol. But boring, reaaaallly boring.

Thanks for the replies! I agree with the consensus. I'll wait for the right car to appear. Had it, and it was within 75 miles. I had to wait two days to be able to go in , and someone else got it. Hopefully another turns up...
While I'm asking noob questions, is the Prestige package worth it over Prem+? Most cars I see are Prem+. Definitely want Sport, Black Optic, and preferably Driver assistance. Navarra Blue would be my first pick.
Time to exercise some patience and see if I can find my unicorn.

Audi's CPO website works really well. I found my 2018 that way.
Airfare is SUPER cheap right now! If you want to fly in and pick it up and drive it home. Now's the time to buy a car as well. There's so many deals!!!

I did that prior to COVID... flew to Ohio after work, left the dealership at 10:00PM and drove back through West Virginia. Just me and empty curvy roads for little over 6 hours. Made it home at 4:30AM...showered and went to work

My advice despite it not being the best thing for my business is to always get all the options you want if you can, especially black optic, optioned to the car since it's less costly. When items are optioned on a new car the original value of the stock parts (chrome/grey items in this case) is subtracted from the value of the black optic items that replace them plus replacement parts cost is always higher.

With that being said if you or anyone else really can't find a black optic optioned car or any option for that matter I can always assist.

Black optic window trims are available on request, but most folks end up wrapping them if needed.

I kinda fell into mine at the dealer 5 minutes from my house. You name it and it has it. I. Love. How. It. Is. Optioned. For the first time ever, I have a car that I basically don’t want to modify based on all the toys: both style and performance.

So my thought is to wait it out for what you want as opposed to being in a hurry and settling. I love the components of the Prestige package, love the look of the black optics, and the reduced glare of the carbon fiber inlays. I also like that when I eventually get to do some track days, I’ll have a couple toys to help out there.

I like that I can customize the lighting, I like that it has adaptive cruise, I like the high end stereo. Basically, it has everything and I enjoying playing with all of it. As stated above, seems to be best to get it all out of the box than have piece it together.

The flip side of this is my Jeep that I’m basically changing out a good bit of the machine over time to meet my off road needs.

I'm in the same boat, minus the fact that it had the cold weather package I didn't want. I just fixed that with a different steering wheel! I think it's worth getting everything from the factory, unless like I mentioned earlier, you plan on modifying anyway.

The flat bottom looks so much better. Racecar.

OP definitely wait for one with the B&O speakers. Ive never turned it all the way up to its 700 watt potential, but it kicks pretty hard compared to the bose i had in the G37.

If I were to want a toy to modify, I would have gotten a B8.5- seems there is a lot of support on that platform. I wanted a proper German sports sedan, never had an Audi before, and wanted a warranty due to having other toys to play with. And the one I got has plenty to keep me satisfied enough to not feel the need to modify. I couldn’t be happier with my choice and really hope the car lasts a good long time.

Based on where I live, I actually would have liked both the cold weather package as well as the ventilated seats (mine has the Napa leather where it’s not an option). However, I prefer the flat bottom wheel like most, and the AC keeps up just fine and really doesn’t have to work too hard as I’m lucky to have a spot in a garage at the office (when I used to go there :) ).
