So I have a 2002 Audi A4 B6 quattro 1.8 Turbo and I was wondering if anyone can help me figure out why the vehicle wont start and I know it's not the timing cause I've done and checked it three times.

But I replaced head well did not replace the head but I replaced the head with new valves in it all of the valves brand new and new gaskets everything for it cause I had my timing belt break and cause the valves to get messed up.

    Thank you for your time.

so it cranks but wont start? are you getting fuel? re check your work, make sure sensor are plugged in like camshaft sensor etc.
Sometimes all you need is to go for a ride in your car, alone, music up, windows down, and the beautiful, sexy, excitement fulfilling sound of the turbo spooling

Ok was the head gasket changed?? head bolts?? Torqueed to spec and so on?? You said you checked timing. I guessing the the mark on the valve cover is lined up and the bottom as well?? If so I would be checking fuel supply and ignition/spark. also prior to the timing belt snapping the vehicle ran without issues??

Yes it cranks but will not start I am getting fuel, and I have triple checked my work making sure sensors are plugged in etc.

Also one other quick question could the car not be starting due to the fact if one of the valves is sticking open when I'm trying to start the car?

Yes head gasket is brand new, new head bolts, torqued to spec. And yes prior to the belt snapping the car ran absolutely flawless.

Do you have access to VCDS? Would be helpful to log as you were turning it over, may steer you in the right direction. Otherwise remember the 3 needed elements for a running car...Air, Fuel, and Spark in the proper sequence. Give it hell!

You never said is you confirmed if there was spark. Have you checked for that? Did you check the fuses related to ignition? Did you remove any while working on the car? I was helping a fellow and he swore he checked all the fuses and was pulling out his hair for two days. The first thing I did was check and sure enough, a fuse was burnt out. Fired right up. Fuses 29, 32, 34 and 43.

Is the EPC light on and what is the tach doing while cranking? If it is on and the tach is jumping around it sounds like your crank position sensor is going out.

If you have fuel then its either spark or compression. Since you have had the head off, I would start with a compression test.

if you have epc light on make sure throttle body is connected as well as the cam position sensor and check all your power management fuses. there should be 3 of them any of them blown your car wont start. Also if you have a blow nfuse look at your coil pack ahrness chances are its shorted this is common on higher mileage vehicles.

    ^^^THIS^^^

Been there and done that. With the age of our cars you probably have messed up the coil pack harness wiring during the course of your head swap.
Buy one of these (Amazon is a source) and test out your coils AND wiring with the same tool...

If they are not damaged it is still a MUST for any B6 owner to test out their coil packs/wiring because they are a known source of headaches and pointless spending. At least if something goes wrong you can track it down with minimum headaches.

NOTE - BE CAREFUL WHEN USING THIS TOOL BECAUSE THE WIRING IS SOLDERED TO THE BULB CHEAPLY YOU MIGHT HAVE TO RETURN OR BETTER RE-SOLDER IT YOURSELF FOR BETTER LONGEVITY... Enjoy easy coil and harness testing everyone!
