Can I use permatex anaerobic gasket maker to seal the injector cups? I have red and blue locktite but read not to use that.

I didn't replace the injector cups, I put an extra o ring on the injector in the groove above, works perfectly. This is the best solution I have found in over 14 years of 1.8t ownership (3 cars)

THat only works if your injector is whats leaking though, which isn't necessarily why the OP is replacing the cups.

OP I just wrapped a boatload of teflon tape on the new plastic cup threads and it worked great. Obviously I don't have teh car anymore but it held up for 5-ish years until my ownership was up without leaking at all. I can't speak for the last 4 years since I sold it but I can't imagine they failed catastrophically in that time.

I replaced mine cause I had the manifold off and they where dirty, I replaced lots of stuff because the manifold was off, for piece of mind really. I don’t think my cups where leaking but i figures why not. I sealed them with gasoline resistant high temp permatex ptfe

I have these in the motor I am building. Nice quality, but the small tube of sealant they provide isn't quite enough, so use it wisely. Injectors seat tightly with new orings. I think this will solve the leak issues at the seat. Will advise after I get it in the car.

I dont use any type sealant on the threads of the plastic injector cups. Just make sure the threads are nice and clean, and dont torque them to split open. Maybe I've been doing it wrong, but it has been hold up on two vehicles for the last two years.

PTFE (Teflon) tape is both gas and oil resistant. Works great for sealing injector cups. Especially if you ever need to remove them.

I purchased a larger tube before installing. I agree the small tube is not enough.
