    ML55 rotor sources

    wondering where everyone buys there ML55 rotors from or better yet if there is a source that will also increase the center bore when you buy them? Not the 2 pice JHM rotors, those are out of my budget:(

    I used a die grinder, although many use a flapper wheel. I bought my discs from partsgeek.com

    Why ML55 rotors?? are you using 17Z calipers?? Also have they been modified in anyway?? IIRC I took off 3mm of the ears from the 17Z and Im using e350 4matic sport package or amg package rotors. No modification to rotors.

    330x32mm rotors.

    18Z calipers from what I have read mate up with the ML55 AMG 350mm rotors, only modification needed is to enlarge the center bore to fit the hub

    ahh 18Z calipers so your looking for 345 or 350mm rotors correct?? Just putting this out there you will need a 18 inch wheel at the least to use that setup. Let me see if I have any info what can be used without modification with that setup.

    if you dont want to modif an existing rotor you can use b6 s4 rotors. They are only 30mm thick. But That should not be a problem as airgap is taken up on first application of the brakes.

    2004-2007 Audi B6 S4 345x30
    Pros: cheap, no need to open lug holes or hub
    Cons: 30mm thickness rather than 32mm.

    I think you need to grind the upright as well on the bottom IIRC.

    B5 S4, but similar enough...

    I went 18Z with Power Stop EBR660XPR slotted/drilled ML55 rotors. Flapper wheel on a drill worked great for opening up the centerbore 1mm. ML55 rotors are 345mm, so if you use 18Z pads then you'll get a slight bit of pad overhang (18Z should be 350mm). I used 17Z pads and it's perfect.

    On my B5 S4 steel uprights, there were a couple spots I had to grind to remove contact between the upright and rotor. We're talking maybe 2-3mm, in an area that was roughly 1-2" wide and 1/2" tall.

    IIRC, the offset on B6/B7 S4 rotors isn't great and requires the caliper to be pushed outwards which will eat up additional wheel clearance. 30mm wide also can be a problem if the caliper is insufficiently centered over the rotor and the pads are fully worn... the pistons may overextend.

    Lastly, EuroxS4, you're not entirely correct that you have to use 18" minimum wheels to clear 18Z. I am running TSW Bathurst 17x9 ET35. There is plenty of clearance:

    I have 18Z calipers and just bought some Mahle brand brake rotors for the ML55 from Amazon or something.
    Took them to a machine shop and had them enlarge the center bore by 1mm for about $50.
