Best Replacement Grill for A5/S5/RS5 (Aftermarket or OEM)?

Hi Everyone,

Recently got a 2018 A5, not a big fan of the grill. I believe it has a chrome sticker coating over the horizontal bars.

I see a few of you have EMD grills. I just went to their site, but they currently do not have one for A5/S5/RS5. I assume they sell out?

Are of all of the OEM grilles swappable between the A5/S5/RS5 as long as it is the same year? Say swapping an OEM 2018 RS5 grille onto a 2018 A5.

Any recommendations? Not sure if I trust the ones on eBay. I think I want a black honeycome style grille with the chrome outline along the whole outside of the grill.

An OEM RS5 grill will not fit so you would have to go aftermarket. Most get theirs on eBay. From what I've read, there are two versions, one with same sized honeycombs throughout the grill, and one with the lower portion a different sized honeycomb pattern. The one with the same sized seems to have less issues with sensors, plus that looks more OEM so I'd go for that.

Personally I like my stock A5 grill, its black optics. I had an RS grill on my previous car and I hated washing it. I am still debating on adding that mod to my A5, if I do, I'd most likely ceramic coat the grill before install.

I'm thinking not. Last I checked we had two black S4 and one black S5. I'll dig into it though and report back 👍🏼

You could remove the badge from the OEM grille and use 3M outdoor DS tape to apply it wherever you like. You might have to shave the rear, but you can make it work for sure.

It cannot. The new grill is flatter and wider.

There is a you tube video where they show b9 a4 install. I found it on a link in the B9 A4 forum but should be able to find it fairly easy. I did take me 3 hours since I have a torn meniscus. The only pain was the lower part of the original grill. I do recommend to be patient when popping off the tabs or they can break easily. Broke 2 off. Putting the new one was a piece of cake. Also, I didn't have to take off the foam padding so it saved me from having to paint the crash bar

I just turned mine to full lock each direction and was able to pull liner enough to access all the bolts.

I ordered mine from Chinese ebayer minishop1224. Fitment is great. Came with a camera mount that points way too far forward/upwards, no downward tilt. But it has screwholes in the location the factory camera mount uses. i plan on using a dremel to remove their camera mount and see if the one from the factory grill works. Also QUATTRO was off-center and poorly aligned. I removed it, will reinstall after I've had a chance to apply paint protection film on the grill's frame.

The camera is for the prestige models, it's an actual front camera that sits directly below the four rings.

Correct, so your grille would arrive with no camera mount provision.

Basic tools plus the usual set of torx screwdrivers. If you were to have it installed, it's a 2h job at the most. We garantee fitment and satisfaction. We'll take it back and refund if sent back not damaged. It's a no guess purchase and really a must upgrade. Full custom carbon fiber frame is also available. We can send both black and chrome rings as well as black and silver Q-script.

They may all look the same but the one we sell have a clearcoat on top of the mesh and frame so they they won't fade as quick.

Do you have any pics of the wraps? I would like to stick with original grille for S5 because the plate holder on honeycomb blocks the look of the grille. OEM grille looks better with plate. Just wish i can get it all black without having fitment issues.

We don't supply the US plate mount with the grilles. Most customers will install a universal US plate mount on the grille or run no plate at all.

For your 2018 it's 100% fitment garanteed. Some 2019 s5 came with a revised crash bar that needs to be notched a bit for the sensors to clear.

We are also revising the camera mount a bit, some reported that it was aiming too high. We'll provide one with deeper slots to aim it back down.

Johann was amazing to deal with as shipping to Australia was a little challenging! i have a 2019 Black Optics SB so the parking sensors were already black, i do also have the camera. It all works well no intermittent sensor issues and fitment is perfect. Honestly, it looks OEM. I didn't like the other options which had the smaller mesh section in the lower part of the grille, didn't flow well to me.

bumper off job, i jacked up 1 side of the car lol just enough to get under comfortably and remove the under tray screws but all up it was about 3hrs first go and i did my mates which took 2hrs as i knew what i was doing then.

I say go for it you wont regret it

I can't comment about the front camera but the sensors are perfectly fine in mine ( just when you put the sensors in your new grill, take your time as the rubber bunges have a habit of spilling out on one side), the camera I would assume would be fine also as it's a wide angle lens so would be fine also.
