    Q5 Brake Calipers on a S4

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Was wondering if a set of 2018 Q5 Brembo's would be a direct fit on a B8.5 S4. I did some googling and saw that generally it should fit, but the year of the Q5 brakes were never specified. I want to confirm before I make the purchase off somebody.

Also wanna know if I need to switch pads for the new Q5 calipers or my existing S4 ones are good.

    Thanks!

If it's the bbk, if I'm not mistaken, is it a 4 piston caliper? If so, than u need a different pads. Since the b8.5 only had single piston. But those single piston calipers were pretty large from what I read.
I know it will fit an S5

2018 and on do not fit. They are speced to accommodate a max diameter of 340mm. Starting in 2018 there was only 1 size rotor on the Q5 and it was 338mm. The caliper was made to fit just that.

I thought it was 345mm for the front?
That's what the b8.5 rotors size are.
So for the 2018 mode they went with smaller brakes?

No more 3.0 motor from 2018 on (not including the SQ). All models run the same caliper.

I’m speaking from first hand experience. Couldn’t make the work.

Lol dang I was confused. I thought op wanted to use q5 brakes from a b8.5 model lol.
That's interesting audi went smaller on the brakes.
If I'm not mistaken the q5 b8.5 used brembo 4 piston 345mm size brakes

Up until 2018 and with the introduction of the 3.0 motor in the Q5, there were different size calipers used. The 2.0 motors with brembo accommodated 320mm rotors. Those with the 3.0 motor had 345mm rotors thus the calipers were different. After 2018 the style changed entirely.

First picture is a set of Q5 brembos from the earlier models on my allroad.

Next are the calipers in question from a 2018. I purchased these unknowingly thinking the same thing. You can see the difference in design.

Oh its curved more. Is it the same size rotors of 345? It's still a 4 piston system.

It’s for a 338mm rotor. The 345 don’t fit. You could probably modify them to fit, but I didn’t want to go that route. Yes. Still 4 piston. You can see the piston housings in the second picture. 2 each side.

I c. That's so odd they would go smaller and a weird size.

They actually went bigger. Up until then all the Q5’s with 2.0 motors had 320mm rotors.
