CTS intake and APR DSG Catch Can rubbing

Hey everyone. I have a 2019 RS3 with the CTS 4" Intake, as well as the APR DSG Catch Can.

Has anyone else running this combo experienced the intake pipe rubbing catch can? Also, the pipe rubs the 2 sensors attached to the firewall right by the brake fluid reservoir.

If I adjust the intake lower on the torx mount, it will definitely rub the brake reservoir and catch can. if I position the intake pipe mount in front of engine mount for the intake, the coupler at the inlet will rub the injector plug on cylinder 1.

Wondering if a custom mount would do me well for the catch to make it sit an inch or so lower, and maybe shaving the firewall retainer for the senors, or just removing the retainer and ziptie the sensor plugs to the firewall to save some space.

Please let me know if you have an experience with similar issues, thank you!

I don’t have APR catch can so I can’t comment on that, but the pipe is almost touching the bracket for the two connectors on the firewall. I’m assuming it likely touches under load.

TLDR; Found some metal, made a bracket. Fixed the glitch. APR DSG Catch Can no longer rubbing.

Some background: CTS recently-ish released their 4" intake, revised from their prior 3" intake (CTS-INT-255R or something of the sorts). I purchased this for whoosh noises. I bought the APR DSG catch can after reading about messy engine bays and such, and wanted no part of that life when I inevitably go to the track/drag strip.
The intake alone is a tight fit. You can see above it will probably rub the sensor mount on the firewall, and picture about a half inch to an inch clearance between the bottom of the intake and the brake reservoir. The APR DSG Catch Can mounts about an inch higher than the brake reservoir.

First, the parts used were just spare 3 inch brackets from my STI front lip I bought way back in the day. I used the original APR Allen screws to secure the catch can to the catch can bracket with small washers as the metal front lip brackets were smaller than the APR bracket.

To secure the APR bracket to the front lip bracket, I used 2 screws, nylon nuts and locking washers. Overkill, but the holes for the front lip bracket were quite large, and the parts I used were primarily spare parts from previous cars.

I had to trim about 3-4" from the APR provided silicon tube as to not make contact with whatever the DSG shifting mechanism is. I started small, and clipped away until comfortable.

Beyond that, it was a simple reinstall. Everything is great now, and no known issues. The only issue I could think come from this is a bit more fluid in the catch can or line as there is an unavoidable dip in the line near the DSG shifting mechanism.
