Urgent PCV Valve (Oil Separator) Selection Confusion

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello all,

Hope you have been all well. My car is a 2010 A5 1.8 T gasoline (118KW) with currently 64000 miles

Due to the oil consumption of 1 lt oil every 2000 kms I decided to replace my PCV and switch the oil from Mobil 1 ESP 5w30 to Liqui Moly 4200 5w30 and will see how things go.

As you know the PCV valve has been updated recently as it now has a significant clear plastic top instead of black top as before.

The new PCV part number is 06H103495AK... The old version's part number was 06H103495AH. The one on my car is still the old version.

Can I just change the PCV valve to the new updated version ? Or should I also get the software updated as well?

I dont want just to change the PCV with the same one and expect the oil issue to be resolved.

I also dont want to replace the part with an incompatible one.

I also dont want to have more consumption risk after the software update if necessary.

Look forward to seeing your suggestions.

    Many thanks in advance.

There are two series of PCV combination valves. They are differentiated by color. The first series was black. The second series was white.

You can use any version of the black units as long as the OE unit was black. Black revisions are A, B, AB, AC, E, AH.

If you have a black unit and want to go with a white unit you need to to replace the front crank seal and perform a software change.

If you have an OEM white (J or AE) you can upgrade to the latest AK version with no other changes.

I don't know if you are aware that you may have some recourse with oil consumption. Here is a rather lengthy thread with lots of info: Clicky clickŪ
