Hey guys, been doing lots of research and talking to several people about a hybrid turbo build for my 2018 TT RS. Everyone has different opinions and makes good points, so I thought I would ask here as well to get more opinions 😁
I’m not as set on having certain wheel horsepower goal, but I would like to run 9.6s or better in the quarter and have a sub 5 second 60-130. I live about 300 feet above sea level, and DAs are normally pretty good. Best DA I’ve seen lately is -1680

    I’m currently APR stage 2 E85. The 3 choices I’ve been considering are the IMS710HS/780HS, Pure850, or GTX3582.
I’m wanting to do rods/pistons (I’ve been told to do IE rods/Manley pistons). And I know I’ll need a LPFP and injectors (850 cc). And Syvecs is really cool, but really expensive, so I am thinking about doing a Unitronic ecu/tcu tune. I’ve heard Syvecs is the only way to run the IMS710HS/780HS currently. Meaning more 💵💵 ha

What route would you go or what would you change and why!?

So it sounds like you and I are in similar boats. I’m in a 2019 and am in the process of doing research and gearing up for my motor build which will have an end goal of probably around 900whp. Performance wise, I want about the same. Full weight on street tires I want 9.5 seconds or better in the quarter mile, 180mph+ trap in the 1/2 mile, 4.0 second or less 60-130, and as close to a 2.2 second 0-60.

Initially, my thought was rock the stock turbo for a while after the motor build and then go hybrid. After doing some research and talking to some people, I’m thinking about skipping the hybrid and doing a big turbo build. It sounds like the hybrid turbos aren’t gonna have the longevity/reliability I’m going to be looking for.

Your piston rod combo sounds good. From the builders I’ve talked to I’ve seen these combinations: Mahle/Carrillo, Mahle/IE, and Manley/Carrillo. All have proven to be reliable.

I’m still up in the air about which turbo to buy. Xona has some really cool stuff, but then again, Garrett is a billion dollar company. I’ve got some time so I’m gonna sit back and watch what happens with everybody else kits and go from there. I want performance, but not at the sacrifice of reliability.

Injectors I’ll be going with ID 1050x which is good for my goals. If you’re going past that, then the 1300x2 might be warranted.

I was told fuel pumps aren’t necessary for my goals and that the brushless ones on the market suck for the most part because they don’t have a check valve. Some of them don’t pull from both sides of the tank and you get to the point of needing to never get below 1/4 tank or even a 1/2 tank with some. My tuner has a 933whp daily driver that’s running on a stock fuel pump.

That’s about where I’m at right now.

Get some slicks smaller wheels take out all seats and ur at 9.6-9.8 or very close in stock turbo. 1/4 mile wise your gonna get kicked out of any track you run close to that anyway lol.

    Thanks for the info, man!

Sounds like your goals are much more ambitious than mine, haha. So you’re thinking we only need injectors and won’t need a LPFP? That would be awesome! I’m going to be running E85 only, so I don’t know if that changes things.

That’s what I’ve been told. I’m planning on running e85 as well.

Yes sir, you are correct! I was kicked out for going 10.1 @ 144mph. I’m only running the IMS710H with stock block (full weight stock 20” wheels). Now I have no where to enjoy the car except the streets & Dragy.

hit up brian saxon about the unitronic ecu tune for ims 710h and being of the lucky beta testers (there's actually a handful of them already on it) syvvecs is not worth 7k extra

Thanks for the information. I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts on it after you get it installed.

The TTRS will put down these type of numbers with TTE700 running a Unitronic Stage 3 tune. This is also on the stock lpfp.

    On 91/93 Octane? Sub 5 second 60-130?
I was under the impression you need the upgraded LPFP (Optional HPFP) in order to run E85 with Unitronic or APR Stage 3.

TTE700 stock block files will not require a lpfp for any fuel types

    Brian,

Could you be so kind and upload a graphic of the results of your tune with a TTE700 turbo.

What do you need for this upgrade? Turbo, injectors, LPFP. Something else?

    Thanks

We should be launching this very shortly and when we do the graph wiil be uploaded.

Simon @TTE also has some examples of customers results if you'd like to discuss with him.

    it will need:
    4" inlet with corresponding adapter
    Full intake
    tte700
    downpipe
    fmic
    injectors
ethanol sensor if you want to run e85

no need for lpfp with stock motor.
