P012B00 Turbo/Supercharger Inlet Pressure Sensor Range code

Got this code today, although MIL wasn't triggered. I had this code before a few times and replaced the MAP sensor already.
What could it be? Am I reading it correctly that this might actually be related to insufficient auxiliary coolant pump performance? I.e., somebody even suggested replacing stock Pierburg CWA-50 with CWA-100.

Is the G71 the one you replaced? Looks like it checks a specific one. You could try swapping sensors around too to see if the code changes. I believe this is the code you are referring to and it mentions nothing about the aux coolant pump.Screenshot_20200305-062447.jpeg

Yes, I replaced g71 sensor in the back of the supercharger.

hmm, my service manual says p012B is related to g31 sensor which is a driver-side charge pressure sensor. might explain why that code popped up again after a few miles. I need to take a look at it.

Yeah should have said that manual is an SQ5, so could be different. Either way is easy to swap those out, or switch sides and see if there code changes.

Yep, that’s what I’m going to do. It appears that this problem appears when the car is driven for a long time in stop and go traffic. Faulty silicon starts to act up when it gets hot, I guess

I have replaced that sensor yesterday with brand new OEM part, no codes, but I didn't drive the car for too long and the underhood compartment did not get too hot. However, one thing I immediately noticed that the idle got a lot smoother. You can try some generic auto parts store VW map sensor and see if you notice anything like smoother idle.
Anyway, still need to get the car really hot, that code showed up when it was 70+F outside and I crawled in slow traffic for 10 miles.
    P.S. p/n for both sensors on the SC sides is 038 906 051 J,
P/n for the sensor in the back in the middle is 038 906 051 F. In practice, they seem to be identical and generic Bosch replacements are compatible with both.

Dang, this code came back again today. Obd11 is really shitty at displaying the freeze frame data, I really would like to see what kind of reading the car got when it decided to throw a code. I'm beginning to think this is a wiring or connector problem. At some point I had the supercharger removed and had some brake cleaner spilled into the connector which caused the seal to swell up. Might need to get a new connector housing.

Good question, the car ended up with another engine and supercharger later on, I don't see it now. This was posted before the lockdown and this code has never appeared in the few miles it was driven before it blew the engine up. Perhaps it was because the sensor was getting drenched with hot coolant by leaking IC core? My old ICs were leaky.
