    Touch up paint

    Hi there,

I posted it in the chatterbox forum but only got 1 reply. Surely many of you are dealing with stone chips.

I wanted to get some touch up paint for my S7 in Daytona grey pearl and was surprised that there's almost no options on Amazon. On Ebay all ships from Russia, Latvia etc.

There is a few non-OEM online stores (paint2fix, touch up direct) etc.

Do you have any recommendations on what paint/system to use?

    I like this place:

    https://www.automotivetouchup.com/

Some have said Dr Colorchip has worked for them. Never used it, but they have a system for rockchips.

I'm used all three of the above on various cars. https://www.paintscratch.com/ and https://www.automotivetouchup.com/ are just great for conventional touch-up paint. Drcolorchip.com is rather different (unique) in how you use and I've had mixed results. Watch the YouTube videos to see what I mean.

Of the 3, which did you prefer and think was the best quality/color match? I need some Phantom Black for a few chips.

I can vouch for drcolorchip. Once you get the application process down it gives pretty decent results, sure to pass the 3-foot test.

I went to the dealership to get some touchup pens from them. Meteor Grey metallic, which is sort of a blueish grey. My old A4 was that color and my wife Q5 is also that color. I wish I could remember how much they charged, but it don't think it was more than $30.

I have used Automotive Touchup and their paint match was perfect.

Ordered drcolorchip as they 15% off special now.
Never used it but have used touch up paint (and was horrible at it).

Will give it a shot and maybe report results in this thread.

    Thank you everyone for inputs.

“Ammo nyc” on YouTube has a few great videos on how to apply touch paint to get really precise results. You should check it out

Another Dr. Colorchip vote. I've used them for years on many solid, metallic and pearl paints and the match has always been spot on. The application technique is unique but once you have that down it's the easiest process in terms of touch ups.
