Is the original battery warranted for 4 years like the car ?

I have 2 weeks left on the original 4 year warranty on a 2016 S4 I bought a month ago. The battery may be failing. If so, is it in warranty ? I read the entire Warranty book and it said nothing about the battery.

I just found this on an Audi Dealers Web Site
For Audi vehicles the battery that originally came in your vehicle is covered by the factory warranty of 4 years/50,000 miles (whichever occurs first). Just another reason to consider the professionals at Prestige Imports to diagnose your battery concerns.

*But there is another thread on Audizine about a person having to pay full price to replace his battery during the 4 year vehicle warranty, because of a 1 year warranty, which doesn't make sense when vehicle batteries bought anywhere have more than a year of coverage.

I do not believe so. It’s considered a wear item like brakes, etc.

The Warranty book that comes with the car lists a few of the consumable components, and the battery isn't on the list.

Is it throwing any codes? Without a fault code, I doubt they will cover it. Can't hurt to ask.

The LOW BATTERY dashboard light comes on every morning after driving it the day before. And there is a RED Battery Symbol displayed. There are no fault codes related to the battery using Carista, but I don't know if Carista is an authoritative fault reader. I have a current Carista Subscription and it ran the Carista updates yesterday after not using is for a several weeks.

If it ends up being under warranty, they may prorate it. Best thing to do would be to call your local dealer and ask. If they won't cover it, just replace it yourself and avoid the dealer upcharges.

They wont give you a new battery after warranty is over. Most batteries are pro rated. Just like tires. If you have a 4 yr rated battery and it fails after 3 yrs you get 25% off a new battery. After 4 yrs you are on your own.

Just get you one from advanced auto. That's the cheapest and best I've seen. Autocraft platinum AGM. Usually you can get a 25% off coupon if you stay there for a bit. Comes out to be about $150 + tax, etc. two years and going strong and has 3 year free replacement.

    Didn't throw code.

Get the proper battery at Autozone but make sure you have OBD11 or VCDS to recode the battery for the car or new battery wont last very long.

Buying OBD11 and Autozone battery is about half the price of the stealership.

Disagree. I ran a pole a while back, and no one who did not re-code their battery reported having any issues .Over half of owners did not re-code. OEM Battery is an H8. Replacing it with another H8 battery is recommended. Some have replaced the battery with an H7 or H9. That would definitely require re-coding
