    Maintenance costs

So I'm looking to do some preventative maintenance and asked for a quote from the dealership. $850 labor for the thermostat, $425 for the water pump and $1020 for valve cleaning and PCV replacement. Of course not counting whatever hoses have to be replaced when doing all this too.

So has anyone replaced these items? Are their costs in line with what is expected?

The PCV is covered by an extended warranty from Audi, so I wouldn’t bother with that. Just wait until it breaks and then Audi will pay to replace it.

Eh, car has 139k on it, don't think their warranty will cover it especially since I've tuned the car and putting more stress on the engine.

Here are my prices on an SQ5, same 3.0T motor though.
    Water pump $877 - $640 labor $237 parts
Thermostat - normally $1150 since it under the supercharger, I was having the PCV shutoff valve N548 replaced so they had to remove the supercharger already. reduced labor thermostat price $478 - $400 labor $78 parts

Good idea having the intake valves cleaned, I forgot to even ask them to inspect that. I'd like to think if it was extremely bad they would have mentioned it, but who knows, mine is 2 years newer than yours and this work was done 2 years ago.

Also maybe replace the serpentine belt while they are at it if you have not already had that done.

Looks like they might be giving you a better rate on the thermostat and water pump since you are having the valve cleaning. If they'd still honor the other prices without the valve cleaning I'd say it was a bargain.

Are the 3.0T's covered under the extended warranty? I know I received the notification for my 4.0T, but never got anything for my 3.0T.

Thanks for the feedback. Didn't think about the serpentine belt but will definitely add that to the list. I intend on keeping this car as long as possible and since I'm not done tuning it I know I'm going to be putting more stress on the engine do might as well pony up and get the maintenance all squared away.

Any particular reason why you're going to the dealer rather than a reputable independent shop? You're outside the factory warranty, and you'll probably save at least 25%, if not much more, going to an indy rather than a dealer.

Mostly because I know a number of the employees, I can work a discount with the service writer and a friend is the head tech. Also getting a free loaner vehicle since I don't have a second car is helpful and there aren't any Indy shops around me that specialize in German cars. I have a shop I trust for some work that's close by but again I'd have to get another vehicle.
