    vinyl wrap vs plasti dip

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
so im looking to black out my rear audi ring badge and have heard good and bad things about plasti dip. i would prefer to just put a piece of black vinyl over it and use a heat gun to mold it and cut off the extra pieces. does anyone have experience using vinyl wrap to do this? my only concern is how small the holes in between overlapping rings are. will the wrap form completely onto those inner edges? thanks in advance!

honestly for the price of vinyl or dip, you could easily get blacked out rings off ebay

i doubt vinyl wrap would even work, it would just peel up on the edges and look like trash. plasti-dip is much easier and takes 30 mins max.

I agree. This or dip. I wouldn’t mess with vinyl unless you feel confident with it.

I did my rear badges 2yrs ago and they still look good. To cut vinyl against the paint in such small amd detailed areas wont look perfect. Plasti-dip it.

Does the plasti-dip just peel off around the edges of the rings? I suppose there is a chance it will tear across the rings, then you have to re-do it or touch-up that spot?

There are tons of You Tube vids on it. TONS. Just tape off a square around each badge, spray spray spray, then peel it off. The edges will cut perfectly.
    For $5 can of plasti-dip and 30 mins...can't go wrong. If you don't like it....peel it off....you mess up...peel it off...start over....
I plan on "Dip-your-car" this summer myself with the kit. You Tube is your friend....

For something as small and intricate as rings, dip it for sure. This coming form someone who vinyl wrapped his entire car.
