ACC and Audi Braking Guard unavailable

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey guys. I have a 2013 c7 a7 that is throwing the error "ACC and Audi Braking Guard unavailable" consistently and will not go away. I tried reading codes with a generic obd2 scan tool and I get error along the lines of image processing fail and no video signal from camera. What I did do before I noticed this was change the courtesy lighting on all four doors with aftermarket projection audi logos. I tugged the one on the front right door pretty hard to get slack in order to plug the new projector in. It did not illuminate like the others, I feel that i may have shorted that wiring harness. Do you think this is a plausible/likely cause of my error? I have ordered an obd eleven to get more in depth fault codes which will be arriving soon.

Had this same problem. It’s either your top camera, image processor or wire connecting the two. Mine turned out to be a bad top camera. Found a used one online for 60 bucks and had it calibrated at an auto glass place. The wire in your door is not connected but my camera died suddenly as well with no intermittent problems. The wire for the system runs from the top camera through the headliner and down the passenger side pillar to the image processor under the passenger seat. You can pay Audi to diagnose and fix but they will probably say to replace everything like they said for me. What I would do is acquire a new wire and pull the passenger seat and run the wire and see if that is your problem. If that doesn’t work it’s dealers choice what you want to do next but you can find used cameras and image processors on eBay. Either way you’ll need to code them and either take it to Audi or work with an auto glass place to calibrate your system.

Thanks for your response. You are most likely correct. Nothing is pointing to the passenger door. I actually ended up finding out that the courtesy light came back on even after slamming the door a couple of time. I wonder if Audi is using solid state fuses for that component? Anywho, I went ahead and purchased one of those obdeleven next gen scan tools and so far I am liking it. Below is the scan log that I took a few hours ago. I also began visually inspecting components in the camera vicinity. I noticed that what looks like to be a heating pad of some sort is coming loose on the driver side and if that corresponds to the section of the log " C110115 - Windshield heater for directional stabilization assistance Open circuit/short circuit to B+" If this is true, it may be blocking the signal from the camera to the image processor as a safety precaution. Ill post a link to a shared dropbox folder so you can see what I mean. Visually, as far as I can tell, everything else looks good. what I want to do next is test the continuity for each pin on one end of video line to the corresponding pin on the other side of the wire using my multimeter. Please let me know if you see anything else in the log that looks off to you. I'm new to repairing car electronics, however, I do microsoldering on a regular basis and am pretty good mechanically.

Looks like you’re on the right track. The C110702 code is what mine was popping. After I diagnosed that the wire was not the problem I went after the top camera because honestly a used one was cheaper and it’s easier to replace. Luckily I didn’t have to replace the image processor. If you do need to replace the camera, alls I have to say is good luck. The plastic on the windshield is brittle as hell from the sun. Mine was like a potato chip. I was able to glue it all together but the only true fix would have been to get a new windshield.

Wow, now I am scared to attempt it myself haha. Looks like I'm going to need to remove the plastic anyways if the video cable checks out. I find it hard to believe that the image processor would be shot since the Malfunction frequency counter for the processor is 3 which is equal to the total of the two malfunction frequency counters from the on-board camera which would indicate that the the malfunctions on the image processor are derived from the on-board camera itself. If you look at the pictures it seems as though the heating pad (if that's what it is) goes between the plastic and the windshield. It may be helpful if I applied heat using a heat gun to the outside of the glass to soften the adhesive and use a thin fishing line to cut the adhesive using a side to side motion. I'll update my solution to this issue as I proceed. Now I just have to figure to where the hell I'm going to get that heating pad from or if I can fix it and if that is even the solution.

I had the same problem. I replaced the image processor and camera module, but in the end it was the cable. I replaced the cable and everything started working again .

Pushed on the cables connected to the heating pads behind the rear view mirror and ACC is functional for now. I believe there is a short in one of the cables.

Having a similar issue. For the life of me I can not find the image processing module to even check that end of the cable. Tried searching all over and have not had any luck. Does anybody have more specifics on its location?

Under the passenger seat. You have to take it out to access it. The wire runs from there up the b pillar

Thanks! On my 2016 A6 it is actually in the passenger footwell and the wire runs up the A pillar. While the seat doesn't HAVE to be removed, it certainly makes it easier. love this community.

How did you pushed on the cables? Did you have to remove any cover?
Did any of your cameras stopped working when you got the error?

I got all my cameras working including top view but still have this C110702.

I have a new cable and need to replace it this weekend, is there any instruction on this? I did not find it in the service manual and hoping the headliner doesn't need to come out since I hear that is a ton of work.

    Chen/All,

I'm getting similar problems - I wanted to look at your photos linked from Dropbox but they're unavailable so if you guys can give me a hand on how diagnose these couple errors that I'm sure are related to each other. Note that the ACC/Brake error came on while on hour 3 of my 5 hour drive back from vacation, then about an hour the code went away and I could use my cruise control again. Well now the code is back the next day and comes on only after putting the car in drive after fresh start on car (basically always comes back on):

    Trouble codes:

--I believe the U111300 code is related/active because of the C110702 code. I tried doing a search on the C110702 and only 2 hits on threads, this one and one other (but no responses in that thread).

    Trouble codes:

--Maybe the coax but any pictures would help?

I also have a couple other hidden/internal codes but they are just annoying to see every time I scan but curious anyways on how I can fix:

    Trouble codes:
01403 - Rear glass breakage sensors Open circuit
    static

--I tried looking, couldn't locate, anyone know the location?

    Trouble codes:
B127313 - Connection between antenna amplifier 2 and antenna Open circuit
    static

--Google search shows this might be the shark fin antenna or something, I found an example for the Q7 (behind/underneath the roof/trunk spoiler) but nothing on the A/S/RS7 cars.

Thanks in advance guys! Been going on 6 months with the errors (and no cruise/lane control) but moreso the damn yellow errors is bothering me. There has been a couple times it would clear but come right back. Loose connection maybe and not a bad camera to what I originally thought? IDK...

ACC...yes....code is cascaded from the Image Processor C110702 code.
You have to fix that first.

Sorry I don't know where it is on the A7, but bet is, under the hatch trim.

The B127313 connection should be from the amp to the rear window glass.

    I'd look through this thread.

Was work recently done on your hatch or rear glass?
Does your key fob work to unlock the doors? Mine did not when that connection was not connected...unless the key was about a foot from the rear glass.

-I know, just wondering where to start or if anyone has some insight further than what was on this thread. I'm going to take off the two plastic panels, put the car in drive so the error code activates, then I'm going to check the connections (coax and power) in hopes its a loose connection to somehow cement my idea of a bad connection because of it intermitting while driving (but always activates after starting car immediately after putting it in 'drive gear'.

-Thanks for the link, did some reading, when I get back in a couple weeks I'll take apart my hatch to see if I can find the culprit behind the hatch panels.

I had a fault for the image processing unit and was getting the same message you are in DIS. I replaced the camera that is located behind the rearview mirror with a used one and had it calibrated by Audi. Since the camera was used, total cost including calibration was about $700. Replacement camera had to be “coded in” to work with my car. The camera was very difficult to remove, I had Audi actually remove it and install it. All I did was hold the camera up while I plugged it in, coded it in, then verified the only thing left was calibration.

Hey, I haven't had a chance to swap out my top camera yet but my acc hasn't been working for a while.

As for the rear window glass break sensor it is easy to access with torx bits and trim removal tools If I remember correctly. I also had that issue and the alarm would randomly go off sometimes. Located the sensor and soldered the 2 wires together to complete the circuit permanently as it is triggered when it detects a break in the circuit. Now if someone where to break my rear window my alarm would not go off but who breaks in through the back window anyways lol?

FYI if you or someone else had the rear window tinted this is likely the cause. Tint installers tuck it under the trim to hide the lines and that is where the sensor is located.

You can pop off the plastic trim on the top camera and see the coax cable on the passenger side of the camera. I played with it and got it to work for a short period.

I thought about removing the camera and seeing if I could disassemble it to locate any loose/shorted components caused by faulty solder joints. If this is the case I could just re-solder but it is going to be time consuming and tedious to take the camera off and put it back on.

Can someone with a C7 S6/7 prestige post their coding for the camera module and image processor? I got an A7 camera and can now get everything to recognize everything as present and working for the most part, except when I turn the car off and back on the error message pops up on the dash again. I read that someone coded the camera because they had similar situation where the donor car features were different than theirs and once the coding was updated everything worked correctly again.

similar problem. Appears to be the cable needs replaced. I have been researching for a week or so. I have all the manuals. Found a few threads on removing headliner. My questions:

    1. Do you have to remove the headliner completely to reroute the cable or can you remove the passenger side (US market) front half and reach it?
    2. Is the image processor module under the seat pan (ie above the carpet) or below the carpeted floor necessitating seat removal?

Could be. A variety of "false" codes may be generated as the voltage becomes less stable. Try a new battery, clear codes, and see if any come back, is the usual advice.

Did you ever find a solution for this? I'm having the same issue and just replaced the cable. Not sure where to change the processor or the camera next.

I tried a used processor and used camera. The dealership has to program the unit to the car but I was trying to diagnose and source a cheaper part. They said 90pct of the time it's the camera. They tried my used one, no joy. Put in a new one and it worked. $2400 and it was fixed in a day.

just to share my experience with this issue.

I started having this problem after I hardwired a power source for my uniden r7 radar detector. I used power from the rear view mirror power which is also connected to a camera. To my understanding the power draw caused the error but both my ACC and Brake guard still function fine. I just get the message. I still had the message after i removed the uniden r7 so i just kept the uniden r7 attached and ignored it.

Ive heard audi can clear it with a re calibration but im not sure if that's true and calibrations can be very expensive

I have the same error and trying to diagnose it on my 2015 A6 C7. Hoping it is the cable (cheapest fix) but not sure. Started happening after my car sat under blazing sun for a few weeks... so maybe temperature related. Can someone shed some light where the control unit is there the cable from the camera goes to? I got to the image processing module box that is under the passenger seat but it only has the four cameras that make the 360 view (front, rear, and both mirrors cameras). The camera that sits behind the rear view mirror (night view?) is connected to another unit and I am not sure where it is. Maybe it is under the driver's seat carpet...but wanted to check before I go and start ripping the other side.

When you say “top camera” are you referring to the one near the rear view mirror?

I started having this problem after I hardwired a power source for my uniden r7 radar detector. I used power from the rear view mirror power which is also connected to a camera. To my understanding the power draw caused the error but both my ACC and Brake guard still function fine. I just get the message. I still had the message after i removed the uniden r7 so i just kept the uniden r7 attached and ignored it.

Ive heard audi can clear it with a re calibration but im not sure if that's true and calibrations can be very expensive

Did you try clearing the codes for the acc module in VCDS?

If that doesnt work pull the fuse on the passenger side that is for the instrument cluster and wait 5-10 secs and plug it back in. that should clear the message if the issue is resolved

Also i would try to pull power from another source if possible.

Oilburner - While expensive, that seems like a deal compared to the $4k I was quoted.

Where did you get it fixed/replaced?
