    Fuel Injector O-Rings

Replacing my PCV/Oil Separator this weekend due to it failing (very loud shrieking sound at idle, sounds very scary). When removing the bottom section of the intake manifold and exposing the fuel injectors, i know you are supposed to replace the the top o-rings before re-installing. However, Audi doesn’t have a part number for those individual rings (only the full injector kit, which is more $). My question is, has anyone ever used another generic o-ring that has the same specs, and if so do you remember the part number? Just trying to save a few bucks since I’m not fully removing the injector.

On a side note, is the PCV failing common in the later B8 models (I have a 2016)? I know that it was in the early models prior to a software update involing air pressure or something but I haven’t seen much in regards to the B8.5 platform.

Honestly, you may be fine.. Just inspect each under a magnifying glass.. Mine did not show any signs of deterioration and so I soaked them in a bag with Silicone, and cleaned them before re-installing. No smell of gas since.

If you look at one of the PCV threads, one the forum members I believe provides a reference for Meyle o-rings that are compatible.

As far as longevity of the valve is concerned, I doubt there's much of a difference between newer and older model years, even with the recoded pressure setting. Like almost all the other components of the cooling system, the PCV valve is composed primarily of plastic. Physics being what they are, the repeated hot and cold cycles will take their inevitable toll and eventually the part will break.

For most vehicles - regardless of manufacturer - anecdotal experience suggests, that components of the coolant system fail around the 10 year/100,000 mile mark (give or take 20%).

Have you tried speaking with your local dealer? Im not 100% but i think a read about a warranty might cover this for 50K miles/5 years or something like that.

I have not. I wouldn't have known about this until the OP brought it up. Something cost like under $5 (shipping) vs the $33. That's crazy

Yeah and I dont think that matters because its like an emissions thing, as long as you don’t have any engine mods of course. I’m not super competent on the subject but theres a couple threads on here I saw that discuss it. I’d look into it if I were you if you’re having a PCV issue.

This is what I used when I lost on the o-ring in my kit. I put the one form the kit and this one on top of each other and compared them. They are pretty much identical in size.

u dont need to change the 0-rings, just clean them, and lube them with fresh engine oil, and put back.

u can change them only if they are cracked, or heavily deformed.

This was my experience. I examined them closely and they looked fine. I had purchased 6 kits but saved them for later.

Audi sells them part of a kit, not individually. That kit is expensive.
