Where are all the MK1 TT owners?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I don't expect this thing to be as lively as the b6 forum. Our TTs are not mass produced german camrys. However there aren't posts here for days just wondering if there are any of us TT enthusiasts left. I certainly don't see any mk1s in my town perhaps once every 6 months and my city is the largest in a certain southern state with population over a mil. Audiworld has a decent TT forum but it's sparse at best....kind of sad these cars are dying.

My mk1 convertible is on my lift being torn down as I get time. Replacing suspension and brakes, rotors. I personally check for new posts here but i haven't updated my post about my work on this one in a long time. Might try to do that this week. I was a b5 a4 owner for years before I even really realized there was a TT model. I think the TTs just weren't ever as popular as other Audi's as the same time frame.

We WERE all over at https://forums.quattroworld.com/tt/. That is fading away as many of the long term or original owners have moved on. The https://www.audiworld.com/forums/tt-mk1-discussion-9/ is fairly active with newer owners again. The UK forum has lots of good info too. https://www.ttforum.co.uk/forum/view...8dd983a0a250dc

Agreed, I've been cruising the MK1 TT forums since I got my 02 MK1 TT back in in 2005 and it's clear the MK1 TT forums are becoming ghost towns.. The UK forums seem to be the only ones with new topics and replies on a daily basis..

Would be nice to see some more traffic with some interesting builds..

    MK 1 tt reporting

I'm here. 2004 tt base convertible. New brakes and rotors, new top, new trans pan, new plug coil set, new CPS( just finished yesterday), dash readout redone. This is one difficult engine compartment to work on and under. But it sure gets a lot of looks when top is down.... Jersey Shore

I'm here but almost by accident; Picked up an RS4 last year so I've been reading up here to gain knowledge. I figured I'd have to sell the TT (2003 Roadster, 2nd owner 30k miles) to make room in the garage, but surprise - the Mk I TT fits nicely in the 'half' of a 3 1/2 car garage. Which is good because we love driving it on sunny days. it's fantastic to look at and has underrated speed. They are also still such a bargain that I'd hate to sell it because it wouldn't bring enough.

    '01 225 Roadster here.
I'd post a picture of it on track at Sears Point, but I can't figure out how to post the picture.

maybe that is why not much traffic here.
the other sites I post at are way easier...

I got mine 2 years ago in pitiful condition. I have since replace every piece of suspension, the motor, turbo and AC compressor and fans. I also fixed some rusty wheel arches(thought aluminum didn't rust?) And redone the headliner and recovered the seats. It was a 4 grand car but I have way more than 10 in it now. So yes please ask away. I m by no means an authority but I have worked my ass off on this thing. It was a real POS😭

    Picked this guy up.
Needs a little love. Interior is in good shape. Seats need some help. I have front covers coming in. Going to use those until I can get them redone.
    It’s a 2000 180hp with 5 speed and AWD. Only has 105k miles.
I’ve already rebuilt the shift tow thanks to dieselgeek, got the check engine light off, rest the airbag, and restored the head lights.

I have the exact same car except mine is denim blue. If you are interested in a tune I recently went to an e85 setup and my gas tune is up for sale. I have an ecu loaded with APR stage 1 plug and play as 2000 didn't have an immo. I 'll let it go super cheap. PM if interested.

Here's our 2005 3.2 S-Line. Bought it with 78k on it and we love it Getting ready to do the control arms and end links etc this weekend. I bought a vag 401. What if anything can I mod with this tool to increase hp? I have a question I hope someone can answer. Why is is that alot of websites ask for make and model, etc when ordering parts , but when the drop down menu for engine pops up it doesn't list the 3.2 engine for the 2005 only the 1.8tt2.jpg

There is nothing you can do to increase HP with a scan tool. It is just like a VCDS which you can pull codes and maybe change some coding in certain modules. Also being a non turbo engine there isnt a lot you can do other than getting a tune and increase the timing and fueling which its beyond the pay grafe of most average end users. You can start reading on nefmoto and get something called eurodyne maestro.
I hope you plan to paint the bumper and tge side skirts soon and nit intentiinally left like that.. Looks kinda ghetto you know lol.😂
As far as the 3.2 not being inclused i am not sure. Perhaps cuz its pretty rare. But as a far as i know you can put in a 2004 R32 which is the exact same motor amd if you need chassis parts they are all the same 1.8t or otherwise.

Thanks for the input but as far as your wise ass remark about my paint scheme we chose the gloss black bumpers so we didn't blend in with all the other TT's Like yours Personally I don't give a rats black ass what you think. Wheres your pics dude? As far as the ghetto remark, being a man of color I take offense to that stoner. If the rest of the people on here are like you I'll take my questions to another site. As far as

Don’t be such a whiny bitch.
How would he know you are a person of color?
There are ghettos all around the world and isn’t a derogatory term.
Maybe your attitude is the attitude that’s isn’t welcome here.
In the end all you have to do is just say you like the color scheme and are going to keep it that way.
Just try to relax a little.

There isn’t much you can do to tune the 3.2. I think tuners claim 10-15 increased HP.
If you more HP you’ll need to do bolt on. Header and intake and what not.
I think you can tune the dsg in the 3.2 and that might be something to look into.

Well let me put it this way. Your car looks like shit. And you sir are an idiot thinking you can tune an ECU for more powa! With a code scanner. Really?
My TT's photos are plastered all over this forum if ypu bother to look. You can learn a thing or 2 about by lookin classy cars instead of ur jack up mis matched bumper. 😅

You jackass I'm a 60 yr old white guy just trying to piss you off and learn something homo. Who really cares what your opinion is. . Its not the paint job that matters it's the respect you earn not being like you. So you just have a great day, just don't know how you became a senior on here with an attitude like that and absolutely no knowledgeable help to a newbie Now go smoke another doobie hahahahahah and pedro I really don't need this website because I actually do my own work because everyone opinion are like , well you know. So I'll just build mine the right way Oh by the way my dad raced in the 50's with garlits , worked for chevrolet for 20 yrs and my brothers corvette site was top notch. So we have plenty of grease in our veins. Later, no loss

Love this thread and the question it poses! About 1.5years into my TT build. '05 3.2 Cambridge green. (not a common color). Agree that audiworld and UKforum have a lot of good content. Vortex can also be a great resource.

Engine: Supersprint headers (coated), USP HFC, custom CBE,UM ecu&dsg tune combo and AFE drop-in.
Drivetrain: Powerflex Diff Bushings, VF Engine/Trans Mounts, 034 Dogbone, USP DSG filter housing, 034 Intake Spacer.
Chassis: RPF1's, RB's BBK, HPA coilovers, H&R RSB, Megan Rear LCA's, Gruven Rear Sway Links.
Interior: Black interior conversion (from stock grey), and just did recaro pole positions.
Little weight reduction and some engine bay cleanup/dress up as well.
Tons of upkeep/replacement/maintenance for good measure.

Its been a really fun restoration and build. The car is a blast and very capable. Maybe I should make a thread over here or on Audiworld. I wish build threads were still as popular, it was always fun reading through someones journey and then seeing the progress. It seems like now-a-days you just get IG images of the finished product.

Just picked this up over the weekend. 2006 vr6 with 54k miles (was 52k before the drive home), in Imola yellow. Found it in Reno/Lake Tahoe area and drove it home to Wisconsin. Not a single issue, which was great because me and the fiancé had no backup plan if it broke down . This will be her daily driver/toy. She used to have an 225 four years ago but sold it for a Q5. I’m excited for us to have another project and hope this one stays around for a bit at least.

Howdy all.. New TT owner (actually the wife's...so she thinks) Its 2001 Quattro. Greddy intake, Borla catback, Eibach 1.75 springs with 18inch. Its little out of commission, some cooling fan issues but it has low miles and runs good other wise. Nice to meet everyone.

I was curious about this as well. I've been eyeballing picking up a TT225 to turn in to a track car... didn't see a lot of MK1 activity here.

I wish build threads were still as popular, it was always fun reading through someones journey and then seeing the progress. It seems like now-a-days you just get IG images of the finished product.
A man of culture, I see, who also appears to subscribe to the "RPF1's on everything" mentality. 😂

And agreed... I do enjoy a good build thread.

I recently joined a bunch of TT groups on fb. Some good info but not really. Most ppl are amateurs at best but its a good laugh at times. They are not technical and ask dumb questions😂
Like "why is my 'breaks' not workimg right.....probably cuz u broke it lol.
Miss the good ole days of hardcore builds and ppl actually knows what they talkin about😭

I will chime in as I've been MIA for a while. I have a small Instagram thread thingy going (@eu_miata). It's nothing in depth of what I've learned from forums and such but if you got an itch. I agree with hightime80 as well, I have also joined a bunch of fb groups and there is no one there that really understands well the basics of these cars. Not saying I do as well but, there are some really simple things that a google search would've solved for them.
@usmcfieldmp: if you're going to build a TT for track with rods and bigger turbo, I might suggest getting an early TT180Q, specifically the ATC motor. I have this exact one and in my research I have found that the motor has the same internals as the BAM engine (20mm wrist pins which allow supposedly an extra 20ft/lbs of torque over the standard warning of 300ft/lbs) but have a slightly compression ratio 9.0 on BAM vs. 9.5 on the ATC. The big difference between the two is a larger TIP, intercooler setup, slightly larger/efficient turbo, injector size. But if you're going to build a 225 with all of these things, the ATC might be a better option. No VVT to deal with, most ATC are mated to a 5 speed, and slightly larger compression. But this is just me regurgitating everything I have learned becoming a lurker and doing everything that needs to be done
