    Jack Stands

Where do you guys place jack stands in the front? Is it safe to use the pinch welds to place jack stands?

The rear is clear on where to place stands but can’t find a good spot for the front and putting the car up just on ramps isn’t quite high enough to work in comfort.

If you look on the plastic undercarriage, you will see triangles pointing towards the center of the car. These are your jackstand/lifting points.

That under carriage doesn’t look like mine. There are two circular jacking areas that I use to Jack the car up. That’s also where the dealer locates the car lift.

So if I’m jacking there I can’t put stands there. Want to use the pinch welds on the side rails to locate the stands

I use the pinch welds and an adapter to jack up the car, then use the aforementioned jack pads, or the control arm bracket (basically the same thing as pointed out in the image above), for the jack stands.

Lile the image, i lift it with the pinch weld and put the stand under the control arm bracket (square in the pic) the pinch weld are really sturdy, i just used a hockey pick with a slit to protect the paint.

I second (or third) the use of a hockey puck with groove for jacking the car at the pinch welds. Don't buy the adapter pads you can find available on websites. Hockey puck does the same and is cheaper.

Usually under control arms or subframe. Sometimes the pinch seams if I am going to be working on the suspension on that side and want it to droop down. If you do the pinch seams just make sure you put it on the reinforced part. There's not enough room to jack there and then put a stand also. There's actually a little arrow on the ground effect on the side of the car if you look closely.

I can jack from the reinforced pinch welds with the hockey pucks. I have all that.

And just place the stands on the bolts circled?! IMG_3326.JPG

    FYI:

Just discovered my 2019 RS3 with only 6,000 miles on it has a coolant leak! So getting back under it to do my own oil changes, install dog bone mount and fix short unitronic hardware for mid pipes will need to wait until the leak is fixed by the dealer.

Don't put it right on the round thing, not very stable. You can put it on the rest of control arm or subframe no problem though.

    Sucks about the leak

Everyone should buy a quick jack and you'll never need a jackstamd again. I would never go back.

Been thinking about it. Would need to park over it daily though

These are for a service lift. I use them to Jack the car and place the jack stands at the pinch weld.

So you shouldn't leave the car just jacked on these?

You can leave the car supported by those until the end of eternity. It's hard to get a stand on those though, because they are round. You would need some kind of adapter.

Agreed. Maybe a round head jack stand would work

Im considering these scissor lifts. The low rise is only $2K. Anybody have this? Seems very solid.
