    Hello.

I while ago I sold my 2010 a4, iv been missing that car ever since.
A couple of days ago I came across s 1.8TFSI with broken timing chain. The owner don't have the time of efford to swap engines but have statred on it. He bought a rebuild CDHB engine.

Today it's a CABB engine and I wonder what the difference is bethween these engines. And if it's a direct swap ?

Do a google search for "audi ssp 436" and open the PDF to page 7. You'll see CABx is the EA888 generation 1 1.8T longitudinal motor meeting EU IV emissions while CDHx is the EA888 generation 2 1.8T longitudinal motor meeting EU V emissions. The other modifications per that page:
    – Main bearing diameter reduced from 58 to 52 mm
    – Modified piston
    – Modified piston rings
    – Different honing process
    – Ixetic vacuum pump

Looking further at page 8, you'll see CABB and CDHB are both 118kW and seem identical in feature set.

I have no idea if it's a direct swap. I imagine it's close enough that it would be worth investigating. Probably like CAEx and CPMx here, swap a crank position sensor, intake manifold, accessory bracket, good to go, though most of that was due to B8.0 vs B8.5. It seems like your CABB vs CDHB are both B8.0 motors.

Yeah, i found this information aswell. But didn't know if there where some other changes. Asfar as i know i have to move air inlet and everything else over to the new engine.
