    looking for a tune ..

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So i completely rebuilt my 2.0T last year due to oil consumption. so the engine is solid .. okay well as solid as you can make the 2.0T TFSI engine i guess which means not very.

I was thinking of getting a stage one tune. I am new to this tuning stuff but have been told a stage one on this engine with stock parts is not a bad little upgrade.

So there are a couple of tunes i have interest in. the IE tune and the APR tune. I am leaning towards the APR tune just based on feedback from people.

I am out in Cambridge/ KW area. Does anyone know places that could do this tune for me ? or any other input. ?

I just rebuilt the engine and i've had enough wrenching for a while so please dont start with " replace turbo , down pipe exhaust etc. im just not interested.

Just looking for a place that will do a stage one tune for me . i figure they are all going to be around the same price.

im budgeting around 800 bucks or so im thinking ? CAD am i close ?

    Thanks

So did a little research. I found a shop in Oakville. 810.00 for Apr stage 1.
Guess I will go see them.. no information if I can switch back and forth based on octane availability..

    looking for a tune ..

If it is a flex fuel car and you have access to E85 I would suggest APR stg1.

Bang for your buck it is 90% of stg2 without the need for parts.

APR is one of the few that supports E85 and the car automatically adjusts for the alcohol %.

Regardless of tune you will probably find that your wastegate is loose and throw a p0299. This can be modified to tighten it up without turbo replacement as many do.

    Love your rebuild thread btw.

Yeah usually a metal IM and a fifth port injector.

Honestly I run my APR stg2 on 91 a majority of the time and at 50F and below I do not miss the E85. When I do run it I’m usually mixing with a top tier gas to keep the fuel system happy, clean, and not overly stressed, you can hear the difference in how the HPFP runs when on it.

    So...back to your question.

APR has a lot of miles and a lot of happy customers. The ones that aren’t are usually chasing down a car specific issue and are not getting the support they want or expected too much from the tune.

IE smaller company/newer to mass tuning.

Pros, generally less expensive, can flip between YOUR stock file and tune at will, custom “etuning tweaks” may be available if you send logs. I say this because as they have gotten busier, understandably, they have not been as responsive as they once were.

The K03 is a little monster to tune for drivability as it wants to boost at the lightest throttle application, add a little timing and it only gets better/worse.

If there are any general complaints about tunes it is usually part throttle mid rpm refinement.

That's great advice thank you very much. I think I will go with APR as I just want to load and go.
So you think I will.get away with the 93 octane tune ? I run shell 91 mostly out of habit but in reality I put on 5 k a year so I drive to get 93 is no big deal

    looking for a tune ..

You look like you’re at 329m elevation, given that I would run the correct fuel for the tune. Looks like you can get another 14hp and 5tq by going 93. This is most likely additional timing on the top end as the K03 runs out of steam.

You’ll want to do some extra driving anyway, the torque becomes addictive.

Well.yesterday I got the unitronic tune.
Did not notice any real difference.
Maybe it was tuned before and I did not realize it.
To be fair weather was wet so I didn't go crazy.
Also filled up with 94 Oct before I took it in.
Oh well. Not the end of the world I guess
    Next project B12 lowering kit..

You can always have the other main tuners run your vin to see if it was already tuned
