Failed NJ emissions inspection due to Catalytic Converters- NOT READY, and Heated Catalytic Converters- UNSUPPORTED. The car is APR dual pulley with stock cats with no check engine lights. What are my options to successfully pass??

They probably changed some of the emissions settings to not trigger a CEL. You'll have to try flashing back to stock. Unfortunately APR being APR, you'll have to go pay someone to flash you back to stock, and then pay them to flash you back to the stage 2. It was for this reason that I went with a flash at home tuner.

I'd call APR first to confirm it's actually blocking an accurate readiness reading. Lots of things can cause that to happen like recently clearing DTCs for example. Don't rush to pay to go back to stock without getting the facts first.

Is this your first time at emissions since the upgrade? Were you able to pass before ? The “not ready” usually means a code was cleared as m1k suggested. You just need to drive more miles to either Have the CEL trigger or get “ready” status.

The “unsupported” one I am not sure on. I’ve had that before and still passed. I assumed it meant the particular vehicle didn’t monitor for that function and therefore didn’t need it to pass.

If you can drive enough to get to “ready” in the time frame you want, there is usually some type of procedure to get there that involves a lot of accelerating and braking to particular speeds (I assume to simulate various driving conditions). I just don’t know what it is for your model but it’s always a PITA. You are better off going on a 100 mile trip which usually hits all the requirements.

To perform the Audi generic drive-cycle:
    1. If the engine is warm, let the vehicle cool until EOT is 50 to 122°F
    (10 to 50°C).
    2. Start the engine and let it run at idle for at least 15 minutes.
    3. Drive the vehicle for 15 minutes in the highest gear or in the highest
driving mode on a level surface at a constant speed of about
56 MPH (90 KPH) at an engine speed of 1800 to 2200 RPM.

After the above, use a scan tool to check Readiness Code status. If not all are "Set" or "Complete" or "Ready", then continue driving the car. DO NOT reset any DTCs, this will re-start the Readiness status cycle from square zero.....

When was the last time you cleared codes? Unsupported just means that system is not present on your vehicle. We do not have electronically heated cats so you're fine there. Were O2 sensor monitors ready? Can you take a picture of the full OBD report? MA gives you something like this

I thought I read in a previous thread you have to flash back to stage 1 or stock in order to pass NJ emissions that is why I went with EPL so I can just flash back to stage 1 or stock when I'm ready to go in for next inspection which fortunately is July 2021. Wow you are in Bridgewater I'm from there but now in Manville would love to check out what duel pulley feels like when the weather gets warmer if you are into meeting up I'm only single pulley.

No reason to have to flash to Stage 1. Stage 1 to Dual Pulley clear emissions. We do not disable or turn off any sensors. Any time you flash you would have to wait for all of the readiness monitors to reset anyway.

More than likely, it's the tune, especially if you haven't cleared any CELs lately. When i was researching the possibility of going ultracharger with my A6, most shops flash a test pipe file by default. This may not be a fair comparison since ultracharger requires cat deletes, however, it may be related to your dual pulley file.

You'll need to request a regular, non-test pipe file. I had this happen on my MK6 GLi, where the cat and o2 sensor did not have readiness and the file needed to be changed.

Verify with APR customer support as to which file you have. If you do need to flash a new file, ensure it has readiness before doing another inspection otherwise you'll end up failing again.

Where did you read that it requires CAT deletes?

OP, good luck figuring this out, as I'll soon have to cross this bridge as well in VA. I dont have anything to add that hasn't already been said.

Figured out the issue. My tuner accidentally flashed an APR "test pipe file". I need to have it reflashed to a "non test pipe file".
