    Audi A7 exhaust delete

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hello everyone! I recently acquired an A7 and have some exhaust questions. I had a tuned A4 prior to this A7 and like to think I know a little bit about upgrading the car. I've searched throughout the forums and all over YouTube for over two weeks, so I've done my do diligence of research but still have no answers. I'm just trying to give my car a sportier sound without breaking the bank and figured deleting the resonators or the suitcase muffler or the mufflers would give me a better sound without drone. I know this has been talked about countless of times and I've heard some really nice deleted systems on You Tube but no one has been specific as to what they deleted and i'm still up in the air as to which one to delete. I don't want to delete everything and make it straight piped because it would be to loud. I've heard of people removing the suitcase and putting in either an x pipe or an h pipe but no sound clips. I'm hesitant as to which way to go and could use some knowledgeable feed back or maybe some sound clips with exactly detailing what was done. Once again I'm just looking to delete something for a sportier note. Audizine folks have always given me some great suggestions and a way to go. I thank everyone for their help in advance!

I've seen a post on here where someone cut out the extra exhaust port on the rear mufflers. They just got a exhaust shop to turn down the new exhaust pipe so you keep the factory appearance with the added sound.

Just wait for AWE to go on sale. Worth it. Best mod for the C7s (other than a tune). You could also reach out in the classifieds, Ive seen used AWE systems for sale before.

Can't speak to your tastes but I deleted rear muflers on my 15 A6 and added 4 inch tips, sounds pretty damn good with minimal drone for $120 vs $1500-2k for a new exhaust setup. I almost exclusively drive in dynamic mode so drone would likely be more prevalent in Comfort/Auto modes. Here's a lil video so you can judge for yourself...not mine but only the suitcases are gone on this one.

Just so everyone is using the same terminology, as I think there can be some confusion, here is a diagram of the B8 S4 exhaust, which is close enough to the A6/A7 3.0T exhaust for this discussion. It is my understanding (please correct me if I am wrong) that the Resonated Downpipes are the "resonators", the Center Resonator is the "suitcase" and the Rear Mufflers are just that, the "rear mufflers".

Thanks guys for the replies. I think I’m going to start at the suitcase muffler and then probably magnaflow mufflers and some resonated tips. Should sound sporty at that point.

Id recommend staying away from magnaflow XD only their 11385 sounds good on these cars

We may be making a simple Axle Back (rear mufflers with tips) for the A6/A7 I can post some videos when we build it on my car.

It will be a great way to get a better exhaust note without breaking the bank (or having a muffler shop job)

I'm incredibly interested in this option as I've been debating a rear muffler delete, but haven't pulled the trigger due to drone and varying opinions. Any idea when and how much this will be available for?

Should be within the next few weeks. Going to build it on my car first and then price it out. Should be pretty affordable though

Rear muffler delete sounds nice. Not too loud at all and virtually no drone. Just don’t go crazy chopping other parts of the exhaust off

Awesome, I'll keep an eye out for your option over the next few weeks, then decide.

I see you have an A7. I've read very conflicting opinions on the rear muffler delete. Maybe it sounds better on the A7 than A6? Hearing one in person would be all I need, but that's not going to happen where I live.

Hey Juan! I just got a 16’ A7 prestige, did you find any success in figuring out what to delete? Im considering just the muffler delete but very tempted to do the suitcase as well.

This is a nice visual, but it's incorrect. The part that's marked resonator is actually the muffler. The mufflers are actually resonators...IIRC

I’ve done a resonator + muffler delete on my A7. It’s loud but not crazy. Very fun, has some pops. It only gets really loud when you press it all the way. I haven’t had anyone get angry at the sound yet. Droning is there but it’s bearable. I’d say the droning is worth the fun. It takes away from the comfort of the car though.

I did only muffler delete at first and it was barely noticeable.

I have a 16 A6 with just a muffler delete. I can send you sound clips if interested. Yes, there is some drone, but it’s not obnoxious or unbearable.

Here's a video of my 13 a7. First part of the video is before I cut the rear mufflers. Cutting off my mufflers also got rid of the exhaust rattle that I was experiencing prior. I still have to get new pipes and tips welded but it sounds much better than stock for the time being. I did have to use a wire hanger and tie the exhaust to the bar under the car to stop the exhaust from hitting metal bars below.
