    Rear Hatch says open on dash, not open in real life. Where is the switch sensor?

    All,

    This is more than likely a very newbie question for the veteran avantists;

    B5 dash says rear hatch is open even when it is closed. I am guessing that there is a switch with a sensor (latching mechanism?) in the hatch that is farked.
    Can someone given me some info on how they resolved this, I don't want to start digging into the rear hatch if the issue is elsewhere.

    Thanks in advance.

    Most VW and Audi have a micro switch built into the trunk or lift gate latch itself. What year and model car? Edit you did mention B5. So the microswitch can be had separately . I would start there. Also check the latch striker to make sure it's not loose or out of adjustment

    Yes, thank for the info
    I am pretty certain that there must be either;
    1) a switch that sensed as closed (that depresses when hatch is closed.. likely)
    or
    2) this sensor is built into the latch(?)

    The latching mechanism seems to be working.

    I wanted to know if anyone has a diagram or location of the switch that senses close ?

    I moved in the last year and I can't find my B5 Bentley, grr.
