Is a down pipe with no tune damaging?

I have a 15’ A3 and I’m thinking of getting a CTS downpipe, I know it’ll throw a CEL, but with it be damaging to the engine if I run it without a tune?? Currently have a Remus catback exhaust with a resonator delete, but I still want some extra sound

No damage but no real gain without a tune except noise and annoyance at seeing a CEL on everytime you drive it

Tune is biggest gain. You can run downpipe on stock tune no problem, but like already mentioned you could get a check engine light saying the cat isn't doing its job. If your long term plan is Stage 2, and want to split the cost out over time.... do the hardware first so you don't have to upgrade or whatever your tune later and waste money.

Find a down pipe that has a cat-converter that passes emissions. No problem.
