Why does my A8 have larger front brake rotors?

My 2016 A8 L 3.0T has 380mm front rotors and I checked to find that they were built on the car from new. Its proving hard to find a replacement brake rotor/pad set as all the usual suspects stock the more normal 356mm rotors. Does anyone know why my car has these and where I might source a reasonably priced kit to replace them?
    Many thanks
    Steve

Great info guys - I like the look of the drilled and slotted rotors and plan to go with ceramic pads to cut down dust and noise. Anybody else think our cars make a lot of road noise in the cabin? Florida roads aren't the best and ts hard to determine if noise is from the tires (Pirelli Zeros) or the brake pads (semi-metallic). Any and all input gratefully received

I live in Fl as well and to me the majority of road noise comes from tires. I use Michelin PS A/S 3+ and with my brand new brakes it is fairly quiet.

I have a 2004 Jag XJ8 as well and hear similar levels of road noise. Similar underpinnings, suspension and brakes - for luxury cars, the noise does seem too intrusive. I started the whole brake thing because my 2016 A8 only has 44K miles on it but the rotors look very scored despite the original pads being in good shape so I figured the semi metallic pads have something to do with the scoring and hence the noise. I will change out the rotors and pads and report back. If it reduces the noise substantially, I will change the pads on the Jag as well.

I ordered the brakeperformance cross drilled and slotted rotors with premium ceramic pads. I might change the pads back to a semi-metallic set after trying them out as they recommend these to avoid heat transfer problems but I really want to reduce brake dust and noise. Great price in the January sale with free hardware kit

    Hi Steve,

How did it go with the breakeperformance kit? I’ve read a lot about the OEM rotors been lighter due to their construction so wondering if the breakeperformace are heavier.
