    Coolant hose retaining Clip (C-Clip)

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
There are 2 coolant hoses connected to the coolant reservoir: a small one on top and a larger one at the bottom, near the coolant sensor.

I lost the top-hose retaining clip. Its not sold seperately at the dealer, Anyone has one of these as extra?

I'll check my parts/leftover parts inventory when I get home from work today. I'm not exactly sure what clip you need without a specific picture. But it it's just a clip, I've learn to be friends with "well placed" tie wraps.

That’s an easy one to lose, too. I dropped it when changing spark plugs (you have to move the reservoir to get to the coil packs and plugs on that side. Fortunately, I was able to locate it.

I think that may be a dealer item. It ought not cost much. That is needed to lock the hard line into the reservoir overflow nipple. I don’t think a zip tie would work there.

When you get one, the two little right angle feet at the bottom face toward you when you install it. You have to press that hard line as deep into the nipple as possible and then push the clip down. Pull back to make sure it locked.

I used a small screwdriver to remove it, but it flew out like a pilot ejecting from his fighter jet. Spent two hours looking for it and took half the car apart to no avail. Its not sold individually, you would have to buy the 3 or 4-legged coolant hoses which come with it, so $110 USD.

Correct, Zip ties would not work on this mechanism. They do work if the fuel line tab is broken for example, or to keep wiring nice and neat.

Not sure what size the reservoir clip is, but they do sell something like that. I wonder if the part below is the main radiator retaining clip.

It sounds like its the lower hose.

I can confirm that the lower hose and upper hose clips are NOT the same size at all. The lower hose uses a much bigger C-clip. There does not seem to be a part number for the upper hose C-clip, hence the need for this thread

I'll check tonight I know I broke that hose a few months ago and ended up replacing it. Might still have the broken part with that clip.

Anyone know the part number for this clip? I just lost mine while replacing valve cover gaskets and spark plugs.

There is not a part number for it.

Your best bet is going to a VW or Audi dealer, and ask them nicely to offer you a clip if they have one laying around

I’ll just bend some wire. Anyone know what gauge the clip is?

Wont work. There is little edges on the clips, thats what secures it. You will spend 1 hour to try to make one only to realize its wont work. U better just visit a VW/ Audi dealer and be nice to them.
